Subject: Blatant Plug - 'A Victorian Christmas' From: GUEST Date: 08 Nov 11 - 07:21 AM Hi all Just a brief line to draw your attention to our new seasonal show 'A Victorian Christmas' which will be touring England throughout December. Featuring musicians Chris Green and Jude Rees (both formerly of Isambarde) and Sophie Matthews (The Oxford Waits), the show places well-known carols alongside some more obscure but no less beautiful 19th-century festive songs. 'A Victorian Christmas' also boasts internationally-acclaimed storyteller Andy Jennings who acts as Master of Ceremonies and will be telling the tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight in two halves. There's also a mummers' play which pits St George against the villainous Turkish Knight, presided over by a Father Christmas clad in green. The cast are fully costumed in Victorian attire. However, we've deemed it unwise to release the accompanying album on wax cylinder as that would be taking authenticity a bit too far! If you're looking for something a bit different but familiar at the same time this Christmas this is probably the show for you! Bah humbug Chris :-) Blast From The Past www.avictorianchristmas.org |

Subject: RE: Blatant Plug - 'A Victorian Christmas' From: Chris Green Date: 08 Nov 11 - 10:04 AM Yep - it's the debut for the accordion. I'll also be playing guitar and mandocello as usual, Jude will be playing oboe and melodeon and Sophie will be playing flute and recorders. And if any of the venues have a nice piano, then I'll definitely be using it! :-) |

Subject: RE: Blatant Plug - 'A Victorian Christmas' From: Chris Green Date: 21 Nov 11 - 07:25 PM Essex (and indeed the rest of East Anglia) was one of the regions where it just proved a bit hard to get booked unfortunately. Sorry about that! :( |
Subject: RE: Blatant Plug - 'A Victorian Christmas' From: Chris Green Date: 30 Nov 11 - 11:40 AM Just a quick update. Still a very few tickets left for tomorrow night in Coventry but it looks like it may well sell out so I'd suggest booking online if you're thinking of coming. Hepworth Village Hall (near Huddersfield) on December 17th has sold out but they're collating interest for a matinee - click here if you interested. There are still tickets available for all of the other events. Hope to see you at one of them! Chris |
