Subject: RE: A History of Fireworks in Britain From: JohnInKansas Date: 11 Nov 11 - 01:31 AM This has no connection to the report that the recent major pileup on the M-5(?) that took out ~50 vehicles was caused by smoke from a fireworks show celebrating Guy Fawkes day???? John |
Subject: RE: A History of Fireworks in Britain From: GUEST Date: 11 Nov 11 - 02:01 AM Or maybe JIK it was caused by a lorry that caught afire. We await the police enquiry results. Anyway, if it turns out to be your preferred theory it would be idiot people to blame, not fireworks. Looks intersting MoBF, they were much more fun before Health and Safety took over. Al |

Subject: RE: A History of Fireworks in Britain From: Paul Burke Date: 11 Nov 11 - 02:23 AM Link to information Looks interesting. Does it cover the chemistry of fireworks? When were coloured fireworks introduced? Chemists were using the colour imparted to flame by chemicals to identify them from early 19th century; the histories I've read haven't mentioned whether it derived from their use in fireworks. |
