Dachshunds can smell a freshly cooked sausage, a dead body, a fresh pile of dung or a living rodent from as far as five miles away....even when they're upwind of it! They home in on it like a heat seeking missile, and there is NO escape. They also have very keen hearing. Someone in Schenectady once spoke ill of my Dachshund (who was in central Ontario at the time) and he pricked up his ears and growled. |
