We have played this new album of Sandy Denny's words which have been put to music by Thea Gilmore 4 times this morning - it's one of the best albums I have heard in a long time.

It's nice enough and better than other "reconstructions" (e.g. Barry Cooper's butchering of Beethoven's 10th symphony). But we'll never know how Sandy Denny would have done her own songs...

I'm listening to "Glistening Bay" on Thea's website. The melody is very nice, as is her voice - not too far away from Sandy's. I could do without the heavy production, though - the string ensemble and rock-ballad drums are a bit much.

Wouldn't mind hearing more, though. Bringing Sandy's unpublished work to the public is a worthwile endeavour.
