Subject: Lyr Req: Little White Handkerchief From: Tradsinger Date: 12 Nov 11 - 05:57 PM Has anyone come across this one. My son-in-law's grandfather, in his 90s and from Lincolnshire, recited these words (no tune): As I went a –walking one morning in May A fair pretty maiden came tripping my way Her cheeks red as roses, she cheerfully did sing With a little white handkerchief tied under her chin. Now to kiss those sweet lips I was going to begin But she says 'Nay, nay, you must first your gold ring To the little white handkerchief tied under her chin.' Can anyone identify the song? Thanks Tradsinger |
