Subject: Okies at Mudcat From: T in Oklahoma (a.k.a. Okiemockbird) Date: 01 Oct 99 - 09:54 PM WyoWoman, Besides you, larryB, and me, I think MaryLee may be an Okie too, since she mentioned the OCTMA in one of her posts on the Winfield festival. Any other Oklahoma residents or expatriates out there who lurk at the mudcat ? Okiemockbird (a.k.a. T in Oklahoma, but I am NOT catspaw49 notwithstanding what some have supposed.) |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: folk1234 Date: 01 Oct 99 - 10:26 PM Hi Tim. I've been hanging around Mudcat for about a year - I love it. I was able to go to Annap's August gathering and I met some of the cats from the Nor'east. I'm also very active in OCTMA even though I live in Ada. I co-host the song swap with Holly and I serve on the board. I also put Mary Lee on to the M'cat. If you don't know me by now, I'll hit you over the head at our next meeting on Oct 9th. Jo_77, who lives up in Stillwater, came to OCTMA for the first time last month. There is also a 'Blist' who has posted several times on the cat. I've not met him but I think he lives around Tahlequah. All in all, us Okies (or born-again Okies, like me) are fairly well represented. |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: WyoWoman Date: 01 Oct 99 - 11:35 PM I didn't know Jo_77 was an Okie, too. I'm an expatriot, but you can never get the Okie out of the girl... Wait a minute. Don't let Catspaw read that. He'll make something entirely different of it... WW |

Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: catspaw49 Date: 01 Oct 99 - 11:55 PM I dunno WW...maybe a BM would be OK...unless the OK comes out in the BM....uh, so to speak. Hey TIOAKAOKIE....Let's just say T....Hi T.............I dunno what or where you focked up, but I know you ain't me...but you must have cranked out some simpleass tripe of some sort!!! I think if you keep on top of it and check to be sure your posts sound like your IQ is higher than a mango, which mine never do, you'll be an Okey Dokey Okie, with or without the Druids. (Ask WW) Spaw |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: T in Oklahoma (a.k.a. Okiemockbird) Date: 02 Oct 99 - 11:10 AM 'Spaw: This is the post of mine that someone said had your pawprints on it. I was telling folks they had lots of chances to party. folk1234 I suppose we HAVE met. In any case I'll look for you at the meeting. Mudjack, I was a Californyak for a while (I lived in the Antelope Valley). Does that make me an OIMC (Oklahoma IMproved Californian) or maybe an IMP (IMproved Pronghorn ?) Okiemockbird |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: Art Thieme Date: 02 Oct 99 - 11:35 AM I've heard folks say that when the Okies moved to California it raised the I.Q. of both places! Art |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: Larry B. Date: 02 Oct 99 - 05:47 PM I'm actually a transplanted Okie. I grew up in Florida, joined the Air Force, and came here by way of just about everywhere else. LB |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: WyoWoman Date: 02 Oct 99 - 06:37 PM T-- Catspaw would never have done that much research! ww |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: Banjer Date: 02 Oct 99 - 07:02 PM Not only would Catspaw have not done that much research, but I saw as many as five paragraphs all dealing with the SAME SUBJECT and no apparent tendency towards thread creep. No way the 'Spaw could have done that. Hell, he'll start a sentence with one thought and end it with another! |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: Mudjack Date: 02 Oct 99 - 10:30 PM My folks all seem to think any move away from Oklahoma was an improvement. We still have some distant relatives there who thought those that went to California were uppity. Uppity Okies...sounds good to me. Thus the Joads were uppity. Mudjack |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: catspaw49 Date: 02 Oct 99 - 10:39 PM You're right on all counts General..............I think what through Brother Fielding off was the fact that here is a case where truth is even funnier than the humor. I often poke some fun at some serious thing through a double talk/gibberish thing as you well know. Then poor "T" comes along and posts truth that really does sound like gibberish. No Offense, T---it was a good post, but it came off at a glance as one of my "blabbering in Educationalese" specials!!! Sorry man, really. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: Rick Fielding Date: 02 Oct 99 - 11:21 PM Dear T in Oklahoma. My sincerest apologies. To be named as an alter ego of our beloved and feared Catspaw must have been very disturbing. I'm sure it would have made Tom Joad "mean fightin' mad". My partner Duckboots here was convinced that our "paw" was truly Christie in Ohio, or Oahu, or wherever. For many of the reasons given above I said "no way". However your post sounded a bit like "Paw's" when he's really on his game. Once again we're sorry, and it will NEVER happen again.(unless you mention possum). |
Subject: RE: Okies at Mudcat From: j0_77 Date: 02 Oct 99 - 11:56 PM I dunno why folks went out to sunny California I guess it was the dust storm. There is a little dirt road just east of here where the Dalton Gang used have a hideaway. Neat huh, also found a link to Cimmaron out west at Engels Oklahoma.
