Shindell is fairly well known among singer-songwriter audiences. From wikipedia: "Shindell collaborated with Dar Williams and Lucy Kaplansky to form the group Cry Cry Cry. On their eponymous 1998 album, Cry Cry Cry covered an eclectic mix of songwriters, from the famous R.E.M. to the lesser known folk singer James Keelaghan. The trio toured in support of their album, but later resumed their solo careers." That album and tour garnered quite a bit of acclaim and publicity.

How this translates to actual numbers, I have no idea.

Anyone looking for one ticket for Richard Shindell tomorrow night at the Green Note, London?

Both gigs have been sold out for ages....one of our regulars was going in the evening but now has a ticket for the matinee instead (because he wants to come to see Bruce Molsky's evening gig in Twickenham)

Been Richard's fan since I first heard him at the Newport, Ri, FF as one of (as I recall) the New Voices with (again, I think) Dar Williams and Ellis Paul. All three were wonderful.

It's really Canción Sencilla, with the accent to denote stress and don't forget Sencilla is pronounced "Sencija" - none of this lispy Spanish if you please!!!

Cancion Sencilla was used by my wife, who used to live a couple of blocks from where RS now lives in BA, in her Spanish lessons!

Yep, 'Clara' is a great song. My band does it, great fun to play.

But he's written so many great songs - Fishing, On a Sea of Fleur-de-Lys, Reunion Hill, Courier, Kenworth of My Dreams, Summer Breeze/Cotton Dress, Next Best Western et al..........and my absolute favourite, Cancion Sensilla.

Such a star.

Saw him last night at Tunbridge Wells Assembly Rooms as special guest of Show of Hands, and he was magnificent - a king of singer/songwriting, as of course is Steve Knightly. He came on stage duing the superb Show of Hands set to perform "You Stay Here".

Seat was impossibly uncomfortable - a hard chair in row L, which was appalling, and the theatre management will be hearing about it.

I discovered the trick of driving from the theatre back to the A21 towards London - from the theatre go straight accross the lights, then right at the next lights thus avoiding the town centre and one way systems with no signposting!!
