Subject: Shanty Crew - 5 Years On From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 19 Nov 11 - 10:31 AM Well, it is now 5 years since I left the Shanty Crew, so it is time for my 'annual report'. It feels that a much longer time has passed since I left, but I checked it, and I am sure it is just 5 years. On the music front I went to the Capital Reunion, and I am sure it showed that I was so much out of practice singing. That was all for the year - work has been so hectic that when I get an occasional free evening, I'm too knackered to do anything other than stop off for a pint or two at the local on the way home. Work wise, this year has been the hardest for a very long time with the combined effect of helping charities apply for funding, and manageing the cuts... 12-14 hour days are commonplace, and most weekends I work at least one day, and on average work through the night once a week! Even my summer and autumn holidays were severly curtailed through having to work - at least my Christmas break will be in Prague where I think I will be safe from my clients' clutches. Earlier this year I was 'heir hunted' - and I was given some information about my grandfather on my father's side and discovered that my great great grandfather's cousin was boson on the Ramsgate Lifeboat "Bradford" and was awarded a silver medal for his part in a rescue. In the autumn I stayed at Ramsgate for a short break and visited Eastry where my great great great grandfather was born - I visited the churchyard, but the gravestones were too weathered to read. Anyway, back to work now - and hopefully the 6 year report will be more interesting. |
