There was a programme on BBC tv last night tracing the history of the song Summertime.
It occurred to me that there must be lots of "folky" versions of this song (the programme claimed that it was the most covered popular song in history)
Anyway, I recall the wonderful Carolyn Hester doing a spectacular vocal gymnastic version of it in an English folk music club some years ago.
Here's Carolyn's 50yrs old recorded version.

Great song, great programme. Probably someone here will have a whinge about some omitted version.

Recorded it but haven't watched it yet. One of my favourite versions was by Booker T & the MG's, but I shan't whinge if it wasn't included.
