Subject: RE: Noel Dumbrell in Lewes Thurs. 8 December From: SussexCarole Date: 03 Dec 11 - 02:35 PM Will be a great evening - wish we could be there. Noel has such a wonderful repertoire of songs and stories. I love hearing his stories of farming life around Ashurst and the old steam threshing machines. Just a few too many miles for us to travel .... |
Subject: RE: Noel Dumbrell in Lewes Thurs. 8 December From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 04 Dec 11 - 12:13 PM Noel is a fine piece of old Sussex. One of the best things I have heard in years is his playing of Carrickfergus on the harmonica. He doesn't allow the tune to wallow in self-pity and gives it 'a brushing and combing it'll never forget', to quote one of Jim Ward' monologues. Valmai (Lewes) |
