I was rushing back from East Anglia to be at the session. Sadly I ran out of time, I would have arrived just as you were leaving.

Speak for yersel', Grandad...no idea what you're talking about as none of my brood has sprogged yet!

OK, I'll do Poverty Knock and Hesitation Blues in Jan. I'll save the Zappa for a more appropriate venue!

Frank Zappa in January?

Well, if you must... personally, I'm working on a Bill Broonzy influenced version of "In The Night Garden".

Question: Who's screwing Upsy Daisy - Iggle-Piggle or Makka-Pakka? The News of the World will want to know.

(With apologies to anyone who, unlike us grandads, isn't familiar with the BBC children's programme "In The Night Garden).

The speed I was doing the LC at, a 48 bar jig might have been suitable...both my songs were way too fast, in retrospect. I think it's the "stagefright" that makes me "gabble" my way through them to get it over with more quickly. I sing them at a much more measured tempo in my room!

Frank Zappa in January?

Ah, Rob - we'll have you playing a 48-bar jig as an accompaniment to a Leonard Cohen song yet...

I still can't get over what a GREAT session the monthly one at The Bull in Ditchling is. A wonderful variety of tunes and songs and just a great all-round atmosphere. Very welcoming to the less accomplished, too.

I'm starting to get the hang of some of the structures of some of the tunes now, too, and even managed to pick up on when tunes were about to end, even when they weren't telegraphed by a shout or a raised limb!

Just sorry there's not one in December :-(
