Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: Phil Edwards Date: 02 Dec 11 - 05:28 AM We really do hope to be at The Beech next Wednesday for that all important 4th birthday bash. I hope so too - I'm learning an old song specially. |
Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: GUEST,Suibhne Astray Date: 02 Dec 11 - 04:55 AM More Post-Revival Festive Folk 'n' Fun Marmite from Rapunzel & Sedayne as part of their ongoing WINTERFLORA project: The Holly Bears the Crown / LNYD : 1-12-2011 This will feature in the set at Chase and Kit & Cutter, but maybe not quite so long... Let Nothing Ye Dismay! |
Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: GUEST,Suibhne Astray Date: 30 Nov 11 - 05:22 AM More on that M1 Marmite spill: Marmite lorry spill causes jam on M1. And that from the Guardian mind you; imagine - Marmite causing Jam... Anyway, the real hoot (seemingly) was the BBC reports which couldn't mention The Popular Love It or Hate It Vegetable/Yeast Product by name. Or is that just FAFlore? |
Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: GUEST,an editor speaks Date: 29 Nov 11 - 03:14 PM Suibhne is being a wee bit mischievous in suggesting that Stirrings' reviewer submitted a review of the Barley Temple CD without bothering to listen to it. All Stirrings reviewers (including a certain O'Piobaireachd) approach their designated task responsibly and conscientiously. This, reasonably enough, includes listening to the CD under discussion. We at Stirrings insist they sign an undertaking to this effect, in their own arterial blood. You can't be too careful: reputations may be at stake. Raymond Greenoaken, editor Stirrings |

Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: GUEST,Suibhne Astray Date: 29 Nov 11 - 10:25 AM see under Sex. See? There I am trying to keep things clean for the sake of the Family Audience for whom Marmite is something that Imogen hates but Jeremy can't get enough of and Mum & Dad keep hidden away in the back of the bedside drawer for those special Sunday mornings when I & J are out bird nesting. Anyway, despite all this talk of Marmite, let it be known that Rapunzel & Sedayne are a Lea & Perrins sort of group, though they also favour Kikoman Soy and LIDL own brand Tommy K. Their favourite colours are blue and purple respectively and they like Zoos (Porcupines especially), the films of Kitano Takeshi, and their favourite TV show is Curb Your Enthusiasm. |
Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: glueman Date: 29 Nov 11 - 10:03 AM Sainsbury do reduced salt Marmite, is there a moral there..? Actually, I recommended Sedayne's stuff to Radcliffe and Maconie a coupla years ago as perfect a crossover-yet-authentic sensualists delight. Remember us poor sinners when it all goes viral. |
Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Nov 11 - 08:58 AM Marmite can also be used to make a vegetarian stock for a stew. Nice review. |

Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: GUEST,Suibhne Astray Date: 29 Nov 11 - 06:46 AM Stadium: Last week I was talking to a cousin whom I hadn't seen since childhood; he asked what sort of music we did, so I said it was Folk. 'Like Kathryn Tickell?' says he. 'Similar ball-park maybe,' says I, ' - Only whilst she's basking in the limelight hitting home runs, we're lurking under the bleachers looking for dog-ends of ancient traditional song.' (I confess that I pinched the essence this from an irrelevant review of our album in Stirrings where the less-than smart-arsed reviewer didn't bother listening to the record but plaguerised an earlier review he did of one of my random CD-Rs where it was Robin Williamson hitting the home runs, and Sedayne was the old tramp lurking beneath the bleachers.) Roadies: I think we've rationalised all the cases etc. so we can get everything from the car in one load now. R carries her banjo and guitar; I carry the crwth, fiddle, kemence, and two bags containing amp, mixer, Koassilator, and leads. Merchandising is kept to a minimum, though we might be fielding my new range of medieval paperweights... Sex: No comment... Drugs: Ibruprofen, Paracetamol, Ventolin... Marmite: Since we gave up bread the jar we bought last year is a little under half full (I'm a half-full kinda guy!). What other uses can it be put to I wonder other than providing a convenient metaphor for false oppositions and the causes thereof?? Acquired Taste has always struck me as faint praise, especially when one thinks of the wonderful things that truly are acquired tastes: Trout Mask Replica, Fine Malt Whisky, Albert Ayler, Real Traditional Folk Singers, Gagaku, Piobaireachd, Anchovies. The stuff of life indeed... Old Friends: We really do hope to be at The Beech next Wednesday for that all important 4th birthday bash... |
Subject: RE: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: GUEST Date: 29 Nov 11 - 06:45 AM There's a great review of the album over at Terrascope... |

Subject: Rapunzel & Sedayne - Two Gigs From: Jack Blandiver Date: 29 Nov 11 - 05:33 AM Just to say that Rapunzel & Sedayne will be hitting the road on Friday for a couple of gigs of Folk, Fun & Jolly Wassail (and hopefully they won't be spilling their load of Post-Revival Folk Marmite on the M1 in the process...) Friday 2nd December: Chase Folk Club, Cannock, Staffs Saturday 3rd December: Kit & Cutter Folk Club, London So, if you're in the vicinity do say hello. '...billowing and unbound...' - Jeanette Leech (Shindig) '...pure and unaffected vocal revivify an erudite selection of traditional British songs...' - Stewart Lee (Sunday Times) * Also simmering away nicely on Soundcloud, Rapunzel & Sedayne's WINTERFLORA 2011 - in essence an album of songs of light for the dark season which will be updated until Epiphany 2012 (Twelfth Night) and left to providence thereafter. All tracks freely & fully downloadable with suitable artworks, likewise the regular R&S Soundcloud page which features all sorts of everything, demos & alt. takes. |
