Subject: RE: Erelli+Foucalt:MurderBallads, RI 12/3/11 From: Jeri Date: 01 Dec 11 - 05:32 PM Not criticising. The only thing harder than spelling it is pronouncing it! I just paid to watch the concert tonight. They're all over the area AROUND me, but I'm too far out in the boonies. Thanks for making us (me) aware! |
Subject: RE: Erelli+Foucalt:MurderBallads, RI 12/3/11 From: ChanteyLass Date: 01 Dec 11 - 05:20 PM Sorry I misspelled Foucault in the thread title. I've seen it spelled different ways on the web, and it is difficult for me to find a performer's own website if I don't know the correct spelling! I've also seen his first name spelled Jeffrey and Jeffery, but I didn't believe the latter! For those of you who live in the Boston Area, Stone Soup is only an hour away, and since it is also north of Providence, all of your travel south of the Boston metro area should be fairly easy--unless there are backups near exits leading to malls. That's only a problem at this time of year, and if you stay in a left lane you'll probably be okay. |

Subject: RE: Erelli+Foucalt:MurderBallads, RI 12/3/11 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 01 Dec 11 - 12:53 AM Whew! What a thread title - my academic mind went to Michel Foucault and I had visions of some remarkable discussion of murder ballads as interpreted in the post modern school of thought. But even without the French philosopher influence, murder ballads are still a lot of fun. My father (John Dwyer) had quite a few in his repertoire. He used to sing to us each in our rooms at bedtime, often running through what he was learning at the time. Unfettered by guitar chords, we just learned the words along with him. We must have seemed like particularly blood-thirsty tykes as school with our knowledge of and vocabulary to do with murder and mayhem. SRS |

Subject: RE: Erelli+Foucalt:MurderBallads, RI 12/3/11 From: evansakes Date: 30 Nov 11 - 05:12 AM I'd love to see them do the murder ballads show. It's a great album and of course they're both great artists in their own right. Maybe this video will help persuade a few people! |
