The Ozzie public broadcaster is currently running their Top 100 pieces of music written in the 20th century, as voted by listeners. In past years they have had Top 100 Mozart pieces, Top 100 Concertos, Top 100 Symphonies - it's predominantly a classical music station, although they play some interesting folk/world music - but it set me thinking:

What would our Top 100 Folk pieces be? Not only songs but tunes, performance pieces, anything.....from any era.

Have fun, and be nice!

Cheers

Forgot to say - each person who posts doesn't have to nominate 100 pieces, or this thread would end up bigger than Ben Hur! Just anything you think could be included, should such a hypothetical list exist.

Cheers

Everything by Steeleye Span, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, Kathryn Tykell, Anthony John Clarke and Jimi Hendrix. There, that should make around 100. Is it all folk :-)

Whenever a topic like this appears I have to include "Do You Think That I Do Not Know?" as sung by Priscilla Herdman.

Oh yes, Elmore.....most definitely!

Yesterday the radio announcer mentioned that over 900 pieces were nominated, and the 100 which made the final list gained the most votes. We've even had 'Peter and the Wolf' - fun!

Cheers
