I sadly just learned that Bill Tapia passed away in his sleep at age 103. He was instrumental in bringing the ukulele to thousands of people and taught many celebrities including Clark Gable and Shirley Temple. A great loss.

Just read an obit at UPI. Sounds as though he was really special. This part was esp. inspiring:

He recorded his first album when he was 96 years old and enjoyed a comeback career that included two more albums and had him touring the islands and the West Coast as well as Japan until late last year.
