Subject: BBC R Wales folk show to move
From: GUEST,AndyC

It was announced on tonight's 'Celtic Heartbeat' on BBC Radio Wales (which despite the name is a fairly general folk music show) that it will be moving from Saturday to Sunday evenings from 8th January.

I can't find details of the changes online anywhere so they must be newly announced (if anyone knows any more please post a reply), but it sounds as though they're moving their rock and new music shows all to Saturday evenings, and their folk, classical and 'songs from the shows' type programmes all to Sundays.

Hmmm. Don't like it when they start messing with schedules. It's rarely a good sign. I must ask around ...

Frank's a seasoned professional and is well-liked and respected by all the folk and celtic listeners. In the light of several badly-thought-out folk axings, surely some spotty little programming trendy hasn't got his sights on our beloved Celtic Heartbeat?

This is one of the top 10 folk music shows on the net. Frank plays US, UK and all sorts of music. Check out the playlists. He is open to new musicians and regularly plays music sent in to him. He was not familiar with Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen, until I urged them to contact Frank. He had them on and regularly plays their music now. Yeah!
Listen, send in music, and scream loudly if he gets the boot.
Chris

As far as I can tell, the other show which Frank does on Radio Wales (with Amy Wadge on a Sunday night) is ending - and Celtic Heartbeat will move into that programme's old slot (6-8pm Sundays).

However I've also read that Radio Wales (along with other local BBC Services) has to save at least 10% of its budget over the next couple of years, and a modified schedule will be launched from Sept 2012. So fingers crossed that Celtic Heartbeat will survive the cut-backs!
