I got this book just after Christmas, fascinating read, I knew Paul slightly (I was very young remember)and delighted to read about his earlier life. Thanks to Barry Sneddon.

Paul Graney used to frequent the Ring o' Bells Folk club in Middleton, he would always sit in a corner keeping himself to himself. I only realised who he was after his death.

I would like a copy too!

Hear Paul Graney talking about unemployment in the pre-WW2 years.

Bits of it seem horribly relevant to today.

A recording of Paul Graney

I never knowingly met Paul, though I was probably in the same room as him on a number of occasions... count me in for a copy, too!

There was a documentary on BBC GMR (now reverted to Radio Manchester) a few years ago, presented by Allan Beswick - if anyone would like a copy, PM me. Don't tell the Beeb, though, there may be copyright issues!!

Wow, John that's amazing - Book Launch at The Working Class Movement Library?

WCML in Salford

Would seem appropriate but would need some time and some planning

One Bloke
A Manchester man's tale of two decades
Edited by Barry Seddon.

This is the recollections of folk song collector and social documenter Paul Graney. He recorded his life story on audio cassettes which were found on his death in 1982, amongst his huge collection of recordings which now constitute the Paul Graney Memorial Archive.

Barry Seddon has undertaken the colossal task of editing 100,000 recorded words down to a manageable book full.

Details are to be found on the Bluecoat Press web site
