Subject: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: kendall Date: 07 Dec 11 - 02:54 PM Yesterday I was having little pains around my heart, so I went to my Cardiologist this morning and they told me that my heart enzymes were elevated. They sent me to the ER at Maine Medical center and they did more tests, one nurse said I probably had a heart attack. Two and a half hours later they told me the tests were all normal and it was :Chest wall pain." Whatever that is. Now I have to have a stress test. I'd say I just had one! |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Bobert Date: 07 Dec 11 - 05:25 PM Sounds to me like pleurisy, Capt'n... In other words, pain on the chest wall... Ya' see you have this stuff that lubricates your lungs and keeps you breathing normal... When you get inflammation in there it's painful... Sometimes people also have little air sacks in the outside of the lungs called "blebs" that will pop and cause pain, too... If the heart is fine then it's more than likely one of those two common and benign conditions... It will pass quickly... Now if it gets worse and nothing relieves it you may be having a spontaneous phenom-thorax (collapsed lung) which could require a chest tube and a couple days flirting with nurses... BTW, I've had all three and have several blebs which can be seen on x-rays... No biggie... Half a pint of Scotch and you'll be good as new... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: katlaughing Date: 07 Dec 11 - 05:44 PM I had pleurisy once when I was in my 20s. It hurt like hell! They made me cough a lot prevent it going to pneumonia. Mayo says this about chest wall pain: One of the most common varieties of harmless chest pain is chest wall pain. One kind of chest wall pain is costochondritis. It causes pain and tenderness in and around the cartilage that connects your ribs to your breastbone (sternum). In costochondritis, pressing on a few points along the edge of your sternum often results in considerable tenderness in those small areas. If the pressure of a finger causes similar chest pain, it's unlikely that a serious condition, such as a heart attack, is the cause of your chest pain. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: kendall Date: 07 Dec 11 - 07:56 PM The Doctor pressed on my chest and there was no pain. Pleurisy rings a bell. All tests, including a chest X ray were negative. They just don't know. I've had some stress in my life lately. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Bobert Date: 07 Dec 11 - 08:12 PM What??? You forget where you stashed that case of Scotch, Capt'n??? Half-heimers sucks, don't it??? Maybe you left it in the trunk of your car??? Seriously, sounds like pleurisy... It'll pass all by itself... B~ |

I should have planned a trip to North Carolina while Dani Janie and I could get to see kendell with out Jacqui around.... Or I could just send my leather jacket down for Janie and Dani. Perhaps it'll be a little too much excitement. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: MikeL2 Date: 08 Dec 11 - 09:28 AM hi Kendal Glad to hear that you are OK. "Chest wall pain" is fairly common - a couple of years ago I had symptoms like you describe and after many tests the consultant declared it to be " nothing more than chest wall pain". When I asked him what that was he said that it is merely muscle pain". Since then I get it it now and again and have worked out that it could be caused by playing my guitar !! These days I don't play regularly and if I pick it up after some time away from [playing I find I get this " muscular pain" in the left side of my chest.- I play right-handed.. Anyone else find this ??? Cheers Mike from over the pond |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Becca72 Date: 08 Dec 11 - 09:37 AM Huh....it might be muscular. That sounds oddly familiar... :-) Probably caused by frigging around up under the Packard... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Rapparee Date: 08 Dec 11 - 10:08 AM So...Kendal, do me a favor, okay? STOP with this shit!! You're scaring the poop outa people. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Bobert Date: 08 Dec 11 - 10:25 AM That explains it, Rap... Think I'll light some incense... B;~( |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: EBarnacle Date: 08 Dec 11 - 11:16 AM Clearly, you need to breathe better so the muscles, etc, in the wall are in good tone. See you in June. You are supposed to be there. Keep going. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: jacqui.c Date: 08 Dec 11 - 11:19 AM I spoke to himself this morning and he seems to be OK, I'm glad to say. As Dani has flu Kendall says he will be staying in Maine. I had NOTHING to do with that decision. I think next time I leave him I'll book him into the local Veteran's Home - get them to keep an eye on him. He says HE's got stress!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Dec 11 - 01:26 PM I got a note from your llama and he misses you. You're probably just feeling the stress from the guilt you have in trying to break it off with him. With your hydraulic package working it should not require much else on your part. Your chest pains would be relieved and the llama would be satisfied. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Becca72 Date: 08 Dec 11 - 02:35 PM Great idea, Jacqui. Lucky for him there's one at the end of the road... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: gnu Date: 08 Dec 11 - 03:18 PM Today, my doc said that word we ALL wanna hear when we talk with the doc... it's benign. Then, more good news... no need to take it out unless it get's in your "way". I was "extra" releived because he was still talking in the hall with the second last patient before me after his consultation about the next step in treating his cancer and I overheard it. I was a tad nervous because this, I believe the proper medical term is "Thing", is near the tumour that was removed about 6 years ago. Even though it's about the size of a split pea and dangly, it's looks nasty and the dental hygenist that found it made a big deal about it and wanted the dentist/oral surgeon to examine it. I asked if there woukd be a fee. Yes, of course, an examination fee. I said I would consult my family doc. She said my doc would send me back to them. She is new, I am not. Turns out these Things are common in middle aged and elderly people. Oh... yeah... I didn't get the xrays the little girl said I should have and I didn't initial my chart beside where she wrote that I refused the xrays as she requested. Then, she told me I should be using these little brushes between my teeth and tried to sell me some for twice what ya can buy em for at various stores. I've been gettin em free for years. The receptionist(s) asked me about her service and I could tell they had the same opinion as me. I'll be talkin to Howie about her. Thread drift? Ya. But I am cooking bacon and sausages for the freezer and don't have a lot else to do. >;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Pete Jennings Date: 08 Dec 11 - 03:49 PM Hey, Gnu, you feed your freezer bacon and sausages? No eggs? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Elmore Date: 08 Dec 11 - 04:09 PM I have a great doctor. He gave me 6 months to live. I told him I couldn't pay the bill. He gave me another 6 months to live. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: gnu Date: 08 Dec 11 - 04:13 PM Yes, Pete. Wht the freezer ignores my amourous advances is a mystery. I thought the way to a freezer's heart was through it's compressor??? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: kendall Date: 08 Dec 11 - 07:33 PM I don't want to be a burden, so maybe I'd best not say anything next time. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Donuel Date: 08 Dec 11 - 10:17 PM To some people it sounds like, as the pain extends from deep in the chest wall toward the outside it is turning from hypochondria into hyper chondria ;) but seriously Don't consider any questions a burden here Kendall. Know thyself. A very deep and profound concept of life. But when you're not sure, you ask directions. BS alarms will guide you from there. I posted 3 ailments here and was astounded at the insights I received from people who knew and experienced the same thing. Not only that, the ailments have reamained at bay as though I made antibodies. (Remember Coldfinger?) I have always believed that a conscious understanding is helpful for some conditions to be vitalized and freed to let go the unconscious mind to do the virtually impossible things [that our conscious minds can not do] to heal or naturally transition. But on the other hand... The old adage, don't dig too deep above the septic system works well too. Un needed surgury or medicine can be a bad thing. What scares me lately involves pedestrians at 5:30PM wearing all black in the pitch dark and crossing the street while talking on their phone in the rain. Are these people fearless or foolish? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Dec 11 - 11:41 PM Lung blebs, Rap... Bobert, et al, someone who isn't acquainted with Mudcat who dropped in on this thread might not realize that we all speak perfectly good English. I'm glad to hear Kendall is well. I'm sure a trip to the cellar is in order, but postponed until Jacqui gets back home again. Scaring her as soon as she crosses the pond is certainly as good a reason as any for a time-out down there. Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's latest scare From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 08 Dec 11 - 11:43 PM Donuel, I've noticed lots of drivers on our roads who obviously consider themselves to be both immortal & invulnerable. Yours might be the pedestrian version, or maybe drivers heading to or from their cars. I've also seen a black-clad bicyclist on a black bike who was also immortal & invulnerable. Maybe they all are trying for Darwin awards? sandra |
