The landlord and landlady of the Royal Hotel (Dungworth) are, as always, concerned for carollers safety and well-being. The first couple of sings this year have been exceptionally busy.

The forthcoming couple of weeks are likely to be the busiest of the year. Please be aware of this and if you are told the pub is full, please accept that the pub is full.

I really enjoyed myself there last year but, alas, this year I will have to stay in Cornwall and sing at Padstow as usual. Perhaps next year...

Why not try lunchtime on Sunday at the The Blue Ball,Wharncliffe Side which is a large pub and where there will be some space or come to The Sportsman,Lodge Moor on Monday nights, again where there is plenty of room.

You could always bring an umbrella and an extra sweater - you have to be several hundred yards down the road not to hear the singing, so standing outside the window's a definite possibility.
