I've discovered exciting live concerts from Livetrad.com. Unfortunately, these are always on in the middle of my workday. Can anyone reommend a program (preferably freeware) that will let me record the web stream to my hard drive?

Review of Firefox's video-capture add-on
Claims to work for both Macs and PCs (mine's a Mac).
The review also covers a couple of alternative methods.
There may be similar products for use with other browsers (I stopped looking when I found this).

This seems to work well - http://atube-catcher.dsnetwb.com/video/
Videos can be either downloaded by their url or an area of screen to be captured can be defined.

Those look good, but the request seems to be for a way to set a timer while he is away.

I can recommend you Audials. It does a pretty good job recording live streaming videos. But if you want a timer..you can also use the screen recording option, you can schedule the screen recording to last as long as you know the video streaming will last. You can go to this link and see how it works with different websites: http://audials.com/en/how_to_record_stream_capture_music_videos_movies_from/star

Here's what I am trying to download streaming video:

http://www.video-download-capture.com/

Two modes: URL downloading and streaming video recording.

Who are you, 'guest'? And that is just a program, not a source.

One does not download a "URL" precisely. One can get a copy of a page, or copy an entire site using a special program, but URL downloading is not a "mode".

Nomenclature is important.
