The penny whistle, like the bodhran, is very easy to play, but very difficult to play well. As in all instruments, practice is the key. But overall, one can master the basics of making music on the whistles fairly quickly. I would suggest that you pick up Geraldine Cotter's tin whistle tutor.

All the best,

Mick

Did you ever see, hear Cathel McConnell play TWO tin whistles at a time?

Packie Byrne used to play two at te same time as well .

And in all the photos I remember of the Clancy's , it seems Tommy was playing a Generation whistle , Still VERY good value IF you find one with a decent mouthpiece .

Packie Byrne used to play two at the same time as well, he was known to use a stethoscope to add to the spectacle!!

Tommy Makem's best musical instrument was his voice.

Packie's stethascope was a tap-fitting bath shower hose - he referred to the instrument he thus created with two tin whistles as a 'Pandemonium'.
