Not for either Bob Dylan or for folk purists but still a good listen and raising funds for a good cause.

Chimes of Freedom

Neato! I will probably get this one. When you look at the lineup of song titles, it's really some collection.

But doesn't it seem like they're trying to present Dylan as a figurehead for "the cause" - which is absolutely not what Dylan is about.

If it was a collection of "The Great Albert Scrut Songs",I don't think too many people would be falling over themselves to buy it!

Just a view

David

Only joking

That's true that Dylan's life is not about being a figurehead for any political movement. If, however, people in some political movement were inspired by his songs...and many were...why not celebrate those songs? Whether he meant them to or not, his songs served as a voice for millions of people.

Looks like the highlight of the set is Miley Cyrus singing "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go".   One review that I read said that of the four CDs in the set there was one CD worth of music worth havingChimes of Freedom — 76 Newly Recorded Bob Dylan Songs by Over 80 Artists Scheduled for January 24 Release — Salutes Amnesty International's 50th Anniversary and Life-Saving Human Rights Work

Just released in the UK. I got my copy this morning. The review that said there's only Just one cd worth having must have been written by someone with cloth ears who doesn't like music. I'm nearly halfway through the 4cds and there's not a bad track on it. Superb performances by noted artists (some of whom are new to me) who have given their talents for free for a very worthy cause. It's 4cds for 15 quid! What are you waiting for?

It's only been out where I live for two days!

I'm just getting over a nasty dose of whatever it was that I had, that I didn't need.I like to rule those things out of my life!

I promise to tack off to Virgin on Saturday to purchase the said item.

We do what we can:-)

Cheers
