Subject: Music Stand From: Raptor Date: 10 Dec 11 - 10:52 PM Have you ever called a music stand an easel? Have you ever herd of that? |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: Crowhugger Date: 10 Dec 11 - 10:59 PM No. But now you mention it, the purpose is almost the same. Still, an easel is more stable, having 3 legs, and it withstands pressure on the working surface that would knock over a music stand. Maybe that's why different names? |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: Don Firth Date: 10 Dec 11 - 11:01 PM Nope. Can't say that I've ever heard anyone refer to a music stand as an easel. Don Firth |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: banjoman Date: 11 Dec 11 - 07:38 AM Our music stands have been called everything under the sun -especially when they don't open or shut properly. I have never heard them called easels - closest thing is F***ing AB*****N. |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: treewind Date: 11 Dec 11 - 08:21 AM I have a K&M stand that looks exactly like the usual fold up music stand but is slightly bigger in every dimension (including cost, unfortunately) - it's solid as a rock and absolutely wonderful, except it doesn't fold down nearly so small. I think it's this one K&M 107 |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: GUEST Date: 11 Dec 11 - 08:25 AM I've heard a music stand referred to as a music desk, but don't know if that's common usage anywhere. - Phil |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 11 Dec 11 - 11:39 AM Never heard it called an easel either. I use a K&M too - I think it's this one: K&M 10062 Robby. It has an extra wide fold-out desk. It holds 5 pages easily, 6 at a pinch; it saves me page turns when I'm learning a piece (classical guitar). The trouble now of course is that my eyesight isn't good enough to see to the edges! Mick |
Subject: RE: Music Stand From: Desert Dancer Date: 11 Dec 11 - 05:48 PM Mick, that's funny, a guitarist friend was describing the same problem last night, except he'd taken one of these (an extra-wide director's stand) and added ~ Becky in Tucson |
