Subject: Request for the chords
From: GUEST,Mersey Mc

Hi Everyone.
It is that time of year again. All the old Christmas songs get dusted off. My Dad used to sing to me when I went to bed instead of reading bedtime stories. At Christmas time he used to always sing 'The Little Boy that Santa Claus Forgot'. A very sad song I know, and being a big softy, it always used to make me cry, but I always asked him to sing it again - it must be the Irish in me. I have tried figuring out the chords for the song myself but they are not quite right somehow. I would be very grateful, therefore, if someone would let me know what they are.
Many thanks and Happy Christmas to you all.

I always knew and sang this song without accompaniement - its usually done slowly so its probably best without looking for the music.
My kids loved this song and although grown up still remind me of us singing it

My mother sang it for me 'to sing to the oldies', unaccompanied and slowly yes.

Here's a set of chords in Bb. You can simplify 6/maj7->major chord, C9->C7 if you don't want to play them.

Mick

THE LITTLE BOY THAT SANTA CLAUS FORGOT
(Carr, Connor, Leach)

(Bbmaj7)Christmas comes but (Bb6)once a year for (G7)every girl and (Cm)boy
The (Ebmaj7)laughter and the (Cm)joy they (F7)find in each new (Bb)toy
I'll tell you (Bbmaj7)of a (Bb)little boy who (Eb)lives across the (Bb)way
This (Gm7)little fella's (C9)Christmas is (F#7)just another (F7)day

He's the (Bb)little boy (Bbmaj7)that (Eb)Santa (G7)Claus (Cm)forgot, (G7) (Cm)
And (Eb)goodness (F7)knows, he (Eb)didn't (F7)want a (Bb)lot. (Dm7) (Cm7) (F7)
He (Bb)sent a (Bbmaj7)note to (Bb)Santa
(Bbmaj7)For some (Eb)soldiers (G7)and a (Cm)drum,
(Eb)It broke his (G7)little (Cm)heart
When he found (Bb)Santa (Cm)hadn't (F7)come.

In the (Bb)street he (Bbmaj7)envies (Bb)all those (Eb)luck-(G7)y (Cm)boys, (G7) (Cm)
Then (Eb)wanders (Cm)home to (Eb)last year's broken (Bb)toys. (Bb7)
I'm so (Eb)sorry for that (Ebm6)laddie,
He (Bb)hasn't (A7)got (Ab7)a (G7)daddy,
The (Eb)little (Cm)boy that (F7)Santa Claus for-(Bb)got.

Wow! Thanks to all who replied so quickly to my thread, especially to Mick Pearce for rooting out the chords for Vera Lynn's version; it was very much appreciated. I didn't realise it would have so many chord changes. It will take me a while to learn this lot. Maybe I will be ready to sing it by next Christmas.

My Mum used to play this on the piano when I was a child in the fifties; It was my favourite then and I believe Nat king Cole also made it.I still have all of her music and I play guitar and had forgotten about it so will dig it out now and have a go.
