Together with her husband, Peter, she produced some highly sought after and well regarded work on children, their nursery rhymes and the folklore of their games. She will be missed, but her work stands as a fitting tribute, so she will not be forgotten.

For most of the departed named in this thread, there is a separate Mudcat thread devoted to that person. Anyone can look at those threads. I am grateful that Waddon Pete is putting those names together here. It reminds me of a war memorial which lists the names of those departed from a single town.

Sonnet 03/11/07 MLXV

To absent friends and lost loves let us drink,
Recalling smiles and times that all once shared.
On those no longer near let us now think,
To bring back reasons that for them we cared.
Some are not here, yet still remain, within
The songs and words they left behind. And some
Are in our souls, when hopes or dreams begin:
A part of what each of us have become.
To those apart let us now raise a glass
And take a moment to give thanks for all
That we from others have ourselves received.
The world's a school, and our lives just a class
In playing well with others. Can we call
It more? Are we by our egos deceived?

Bearded Bruce.

People do not die for us immediately, but remain bathed in a sort of aura of life which bears no relation to true immortality but through which they continue to occupy our thoughts in the same way as when they were alive.

It is as though they were travelling abroad. ~Marcel Proust

Just a reminder that some posts to this thread have been moved over to the Obit: Mudcat Honor Roll: Musicians of Note thread.

Particular thanks to Dave the Gnome for reminding us all of Gary Wright from Swinton.

It was obit posts like Gary's that were the spark to get involved with the Memoriam Thread.

Gary is clearly well respected and still much missed. However, his thread only attracted 6 posts and then slid off the radar. He deserved more recognition than that and, hopefully, the Memorial Thread will allow more people to celebrate his contribution.

As I said above, life rolls on. This is shown clearly by the inexorable way that obit threads move down the listings until they finally take residence in the Mudcat archive. Sometimes they are refreshed. Sometimes they lie forgotten by all but the original poster. That has always struck me as sad.

So....I know there have been other short, but still valuable, obit threads. Can you help us locate them as well?

Thank you.
