She was just 7 and I was just 10 When she moved next door to the house we lived in A freckled face angel always in the way But I couldn't refuse when she'd say CHORUS: Big brother take me with you Wherever you're going I want to go too You're so silly the things that you do But big brother how I love you. Can anyone help me? I am thanking you in advance for any help you can give me. |

Subject: RE: Don't know artists or title only some lyrics From: Jim Dixon Date: 17 Oct 04 - 02:11 PM Back in 1997 this song was requested 4 times by the same person (chenry1@lcc.net ) in this and 3 other threads: Big Brother? 1965 ERA Big Brother Around 1965 Big Brother This year, someone made a similar request in another forum, and quoted the following lines: Freckle-faced angel with big brown eyes, She asked me over for tea and mud pies, Followed me around and got in my hair, Wherever I looked, she be there. Big brother, take me with you. Wherever you are going, I want to go too. I think it is funny the things that you do. Big brother, how I love you. Went to the fair when it came to town Rides and cotton candy kept us all day, And when we got home, she would say, Mother, there's no need to worry and fuss My big brother will take care of us. I also found that 4 country music artists made recordings of a song called BIG BROTHER in the right time frame, but I have not found any lyrics or sound files, so I'm unable to confirm that this is the song that is wanted. Tex Ritter, 1964 Dickey Lee, 1965 Tompall Glaser and the Glaser Brothers, 1967 Johnny Paycheck, 1967 |

Subject: RE: 1965 ERA Big Brother From: GUEST,SwaneyJL@aol.com Date: 26 Oct 04 - 08:41 PM If you find the words to this song, please let me know. I remember the song and have looked everywhere!! The second verse was about their going to the fair when it came to town, and the little girl would say "Mother there's no need to worry or fuss. My big brother can take care of us, he's like one of our own family, Big Brother takes care of me". And then something about "late in the spring, all of sudden she was 18. No longer the little girl I'd known all my life, and I wanted to make her my wife". Then something about "she came to me, her face all aglow, in order that I'd be the first one to know" and then "something something, and in her sweet way, told me of their wedding day. Now big brother will have to be strong. I'll turn and hide these tears in my eyes - I can't let her see, big brother cry". And that's all I remember and it's driving me crazy too!! |
Subject: RE: 1965 ERA Big Brother From: GUEST,SwaneyJL@aol.com Date: 26 Oct 04 - 10:26 PM I found the words in one of my old notebooks. Here you go... Big Brother She was seven and I was just ten, When she moved next door to the house we lived in. She'd follow me around, and get in my hair, Where ever I looked she'd be there. Just an awkward little girl, with big brown eyes, She'd ask me over for tea and mud pies. A freckled faced angel always in my way, But I couldn't resist when she'd say, "Big Brother, take me with you, Where ever you're going, I want to go, too. You're so silly, the things that you do, But, Big Brother, how I love you". As she grew older I'd take her around. We'd go to the fair when it came to town. The side-shows and candy would keep us all day, And when we were late she would say, "Mother, there's no need to worry and fuss. My big brother can take care of us. He's like one of our own family, Big brother takes care of me." One starry night, late in the spring, All of a sudden, she was 18. No longer the little girl I'd known all my life, And I wanted to make her my wife. She came to me her heart all aglow, In order that I'd be the first one to know. She brought him over and in her sweet way Told me of their wedding day. Big brother, I've been so wrong, But now big brother will have to be strong. So I'll turn and hide these tears in my eyes, I can't let her see….big brother cry. |

He's like one of our own family, Big brother takes care of me." The years rolled along then one night in the spring, All of a sudden, she was 18. No longer the little girl I'd known all my life, And I wanted to make her my wife. But a few days later her heart all aglow, In order that I'd be the first one to know. She brought him over and in her sweet way Told me of their wedding day. Big brother, I've been so long, But now big brother will have to be strong. So I'll turn and hide these tears in my eyes, I can't let her see...big brother cry. |
