Subject: Lyr Req: 'When I'm Eighty' From: GUEST,My Dog & I Date: 24 Dec 11 - 09:10 AM Hullo all, I've lurked around this magnificent resource for a while, and I'd like to see if I could pick some brains to perhaps help add to its stores of knowledge. A couple of years ago I was in the fabulous pub that is Fagan's in Sheffield, filling my impressionable young ears with music and song as I am wont to do and heard a very touching song from an ancient regular named Sean/John. The only line that I can recall now is "when I'm eighty". I meant to ask him about it when I next saw him, but we always missed each other and as I'm no longer in Sheffield it's a bit tricky. If anyone can enlighten me through knowing the rest of the song as I can only hear that one snatch in my head! Merry Christmas everyone - I'm hoping for a good sing with the relatives this evening! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: 'When I'm Eighty' From: GUEST Date: 27 Dec 11 - 02:11 PM Yes, I can see that would be helpful, however that's all I can recall! It is part of the chorus though. The rest of the song was about what the singer would feel when he was 80, I think. Particularly touching as the man I heard singing it was past 80! Perhaps also "and now I'm eighty" at the end of some lines. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When I'm Eighty From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 Dec 11 - 06:01 PM I'm coming up empty. Perhaps a phone call to Fagan's in Sheffield? Bartenders know everything, and if the gent was a regular, it's likely someone knows about the song. |
