Faith did a dong last night as part of Peggy Seeger's concert at Freight and Salvage. So cool to see her out and about.

I'm glad to read that Faith got the all-clear from her surgeon. Somebody please tell her to be careful not to injure her hip when raises her leg to kick the Establishment's bottom!

Please let Faith know that the exercises hurt like the dickens, all of them. So, if she decides to skip any, the one she cannot skip is the jeft-right one that hurts most. That's the one gets ya better.

This came in today from Faith's daughter Carole:
Hooray, Faith has been given the all clear by her surgeon to be her old, dear self. The only thing she needs now is to exercise (don't we all?) to rebuild strength. Thank you everyone for all the help. I'm going to have two more cover periods and after than try leaving her for short periods. If that doesn't work I'll come back and ask for some cover.

I know it has been very, very important to Faith that people have come to help her and to us (Carole, daughter, and Alex, granddaughter, as well)
Carole

So it sounds like she will be back there kicking the Establishment's sorry behind for a while yet, and boy does it need kicking.
Blessings,
Barbara

Guest: There must be a misunderstanding.Honest to God,I didn't mean to offend anybody, and apologize if I did. I simply meant that there have been amazing medical advances in the last few years.

Hi Faith,

You sang brilliantly with the San Francisco Fire Band in the New Inn, Llantrisant, all those years ago! Just get well soon!

Thinking fondly of you,

Any updates?

Here's Faith's website link again, with cds available for sale; might just be a good time to order one or twenty: http://www.faithpetric.com/cds.html

There are some delightful photos on the website, as well.

On Saturday night I saw Lou and Peter Berryman performing at The Freight and Salvage in Berkley Ca.(via the web) They said she'd had her second hip replacement, and was doing quite well. Amazing. In 2000 my mother broke her hip and died within 6 months.

This is the perfect time of year for orthopedic surgery. Nobody minds staying in when it's cold, gray and miserable outside. My mom had 3 hip replacements. (1 didn't work.) 2 in winter, 1 in July. I took care of her after all 3. We did just fine during the winter surgeries. She enjoyed staying on the sofa reading and finishing her crossword puzzles. But I spent most of that July thinking matricide would be a good thing.

It's important to do your exercises. Mom's doctor told her, "Do them as steadily as you practice your religion." Mom said, "I'm not very religious, so I'll do them more often.

Jan 1, 2011, my wife and I had a serious accident on the stairs. I'm fully recovered, but not my wife. All my sympathies to Faith, someone whose music we've enjoyed for years at Fox Hollow, and Old Songs.

Well, it's poetic justice. She's been a pain in the Establishment's ass for half a century. She'll recover from this, but the Establishment will never recover from her.

Faith's accident was the only serious mishap at Camp New Harmony this year. News of her injury cast a tone of sadness on our last day. I hope she recovers soon.

A friend passed this to me this AM:
    Hello All,
I will get right to the point here and say that Faith is not in any danger, came through her hip surgery well, and is looking to make a full recovery. I will give a few more details below but first would just like to thank everyone who had been in touch to express their love and concern for Faith. Also thank you to Morgan and others who have helped to disseminate information about her condition while I was still dealing with the immediate situation.
So for those that who did not know, Faith had a fall on Sunday the 1st of January 2012 while attending the SFFMC annual New Year's music camp, Harmony, near Santa Rosa. She was taken to the Kaiser Santa Rosa Hospital and there diagnosed with a broken right hip and told it would need to be replaced. For those who didn't know or don't remember, Faith had the same thing happen with her left hip in March 2010 and recovered completely from that procedure, however she wasn't impressed about having to go through the whole thing again. She requested to be transferred to San Francisco and I rode with her in the ambulance down to the city on Sunday night. She had her operation around noon on Monday and, according to the surgeon, it went very well. Faith is now in the Kaiser Medical Centre here in San Francisco for the next few days before either being allowed to come home, where my partner Emmet and I can care for her, or to a rehabilitation facility for a short time first, depending on her progress over the next few days. Right now she is very sleepy and incoherent from the pain medication and may be that way for a few days yet. For this reason we are asking people not to call or visit the hospital yet. I will try to keep everyone updated as things progress but if you are concerned please either call the house or email Faith at this address and I will try to get back to you.
    All the best,
    Alex
