Lesley N., I believe that "Don't Cry in your Sleep" (Hush, hush, time to be sleeping...) is sung to the tune of "The Mist Covered Mountains" (sometimes called "The Mist Covered Mountains of Home".)

Ewan McVicar ought to know - where has he got to? I don't know what Jim McLean is doing these days, if he is still alive, but I think he was from Glasgow, one of the crowd of singers and songwriters developing round the Sixties anti-nuclear protests in Scotland. He has written many fine songs, e.g. Where is the Glasgow I used to know? as a reply to Adam McNaughtan's far more nostalgic song on the same theme, and also many with a nationalist slant. Speaking of the ballad - can anyone tell me who Jim MacLean is/was? He also wrote the lyrics to Smile in Your Sleep (aka Don't Cry in Your Sleep) which were set to the Mountains of Mourne. I'd love to know when he was around or if he is still.

It's also said Glen Coe is set to a traditional air - anyone have an idea what the title was or anything about it???
