Subject: RE: Tech: Removing WordPress main title From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 10 Jan 12 - 04:55 AM Good idea Nick, yea, read the manual but this is not in it as they want to keep their format. Anyway, as the answer was not forthcoming here, I had a great idea and paid someone to do it for me, so, job done. |

If it is something showing on a page that you don't want to show you could cheat by setting the font colour to the background colour and the point size to the smallest possible. Not really the right way but... Have you read the manual by the way :) Always good as a last resort |
Subject: RE: Tech: Removing WordPress main title From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 09 Jan 12 - 11:13 AM Thanks Nick, I've had a look and it allows you to change the tags but NOT delete them, which is what I'm trying to do. It was certainly worth a look though. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Removing WordPress main title From: Nick Date: 09 Jan 12 - 09:15 AM Is this relevany at all? It blows my mind how post titles are also used as title tags by WordPress, considering that post titles should be catchy, pithy, and short-and-sweet; whereas title tags should incorporate synonyms and alternate phrases to capture additional search visibility. Now, thankfully, there is a solution, allowing you to decouple post titles from title tags. Introducing... the SEO Title Tag WordPress plugin. SEO Title Tag makes is dead-easy to optimize the title tags across your WordPress-powered blog or website. Not just your posts, not just your home page, but any and every title tag on your site! If this plugin, along with a few hours of keyword research and copywriting of optimized titles, doesn't make a significant impact on your search traffic, you're doing something wrong! Features include: Allows you to override a page's or a post's title tag with a custom one. |

Subject: Tech: Removing WP main title From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 08 Jan 12 - 08:44 AM Has anyone got any idea how I can get rid of the main title and description from the top of the first page on my new wordpress site. I am putting together a site for The Eskdale Festival of the Arts which is an annual event at the Spa in Whitby, and having been voted onto the festival committee, I foolishly admitted that I had a few WP websites. I've managed to design and insert a custom header (after committee approval of course), which does away with the need for the main title and description, but I don't know enough about the editing of the html to find what to delete. The videos I've found on Utube cover just about everything else except this. I found how to get into the Page and Style files but can't actually find the exact bits to delete. The help of one of you experts out there would be greatly appreciated, after all, it is in a good cause:-) |
