Kat, stowing away would be a smart move, Dorset, Somerset, Devon & Cornwall all have much to offer in the soothing department. We have Family in Truro, Cornwall & Ann's Mother lived in Taunton, Somerset, so we've visited the South West many times. Wonderful scenery, slower pace of life, bursting with history, myth & legend. Can't recommend the area highly enough.
                                          With Love,
                                                         Nigel.

Gnu, I hope you win the jackpot. Kat, you should win one, too, so that you can travel in style. Might I suggest the QM2, though the crossing from the UK must be better than the crossing from the US. Going east means losing an hour of sleep almost every night. Going west means getting an extra hour of sleep almost every night! I've heard westbound passengers are much happier than those eastbound, who are downright grumpy. If you do stowaway, that still might be the ship to pick. Gnu, if you go to Iceland. say Hi to Skarpi for all of us. I did a two-week tour several years ago (before my pension was reformed), but i wasn't on Mudcat at the time and didn't know Skarpi existed!

Me too on reading this thread. I love your spirits and am always in awe of the support that flows freely from this crew.

I had a port put in on Monday and it hurts like hell post install. But after a few weeks all that surgical pain will have healed and the best part is that they are already using it for this round of Vidaza. NO MORE BELLY SHOTS!!!! It works fine and I look forward to it healing as does Karen who has to listen to me bitch! LOL.....My wife, buddy, pal, lover, and best friend.......Love is a wonderful thing...............

Only one minor problem.....They put the port in on the starboard side. I've mentioned this to several of the medicos and they simply stare at me. I don't bother explaining.............

At least that opening in Spaw isn't apt to emit anything. It's good to know that you can look forward to at least a little less of the misery you deserve.

Singer/songwriter/comedian Don White tells. in his book "Memoirs of a C Student", of an conversation with his son, who was about to depart for college.
"...I took a paper napkin and I wrote these words on it: "One excellent decision." I held it up for him to read and then I folded it in half and then in half once more. I handed it to him and said, "Put this in your wallet. You only get one of these. Use it when you are deciding who to marry".

Sounds like Spaw is one of those of us here who, if only by dumb luck, came up with the right decision on that one. It sure does help in life.

We had an even better one, but my muse was being impatient, my scribe was off feeding his fat gullet with corn on the cob. When we think of it, will post it. Feel free to offer UP.

Nigel, Dear One, and Ann,

It is my true belief that we receive, ten-fold, what we give out in life so looky where all this is coming from. You have lead concious lives and helped many, it has been your turn to receive.

I had some good news today...don't have to see the kidney specialist for three months!!! He's happy with what we are doing. This a relief!!
Thanks to everyone for your help!!!

Dearest Kat, I'm thrilled to hear your good news & deeply moved by your compassionate words. Pete, 'emotional adjustment' just about sums it up. As the days pass, I understand more clearly that it is a continuous process of adjustment & re-adjustment. One might also say: 'Emotional Evolution'. What is very clear is that our lives are in a state of flux & will remain so for who knows how long. The creativity does help. Without it, we would both be in a much darker place.
Which leads nicely into ChanteyLass' question. Ann spends the greater part of her crafting time making greetings cards. Each card is different & often takes several hours to produce. She attends classes from time to time to keep abreast of new techniques & ideas. Naturally, I'm biased, but I think her work is exquisite; head & shoulders above shop-bought. Ann also makes scrap books for Family members. The scrap book is usually produced to coincide with special life events: 18th birthday, older birthdays, graduation etc..I get involved too, typing captions for the dozens of photos & sometimes processing/editing the photos. The finished article is always considered highly desirable & much appreciated by the recipient. It's become something of a tradition within the Family.
                                       With Love,
                                                      Nigel & Ann.

Yay Kat. I like readng good news too. I have special good feelings for all the folks on this thread.

Going through some stuff with My poor Hilary. Denied SSDI again. Lawyer says they have to go to court. SSA left of lupus (which should have been the clincher) in her list of conditions. SSA claims she could still do her former telephone job, even thogh medical report states she would need a 10 minute break every 45 to 60 minutes due to pain, fatigue and brain fog caused by her autoimmune conditions.   Lawyer says this is common and 85% of cases of her age have to go to court.

She did however get PAC (free publich health care)letter today. So appointments, tests, and meds are free. But not specialists, which is a bit worrying.

Anyway her fight continues.

Love to all.

Geeze.....What a pick-me-up this morning just reading this. I mean it. I'm not "low" or anything just got a free boost from just coming aboard. The Rainbow is about the only reason I check in every day and I've been out for a couple of days so this was a big treat......nice to see things flowing along as Nigel put it.

The port is still healing and very bruised. May I tell you how much I hate Coumadin/Warfarin? Yeah....I do. I've been on Warfarin since 1998 and it makes every invasive procedure a pain in the ass. You have to bridge off and the back on the stuff using Lovenox (shots in the belly twice a day) so this time there is a certain irony that to get off the belly shots I have to take more! Lovenox uses a much shorter and is not a problem though. Looks like Monday before I can get the area wet but using it this week was wonderful and when it has been in for awhile it will be even better. OTOH I find the Vidaza a bit more nausea inducing through the infusion but again it beats that belly pain!!!! I mean, I don't mind needles but I thought I was having my stomach area "tenderized" every three weeks.

Waiting the extra week and forgoing the Aronesp dropped my numbers but not terribly, so I am anxious to see where we are on Monday. After that I should be back on track and if things go right I may be able to skip a week on blood tests. Let's hope so. Once again, all those "UPS" built up and have done one helluva' job. Down the road I'm going to explain that a bit......but I'll save it for a later date!

UPS to you all.....as opposed to my general "Up Yours" which has an entirely different sentiment attached.

Spaw

Sandra, I just browsed Cup of Kindness.Nice! I loved being able to see the photos although I couldn't enlarge them without joining. I probably won't do that. I already have too many internet addictions! Also, while I used to do embroidery, needlepoint, and a few other odds and ends, it has been years since I have done anything crafty. I may drop by to browse again, though.

my mum used to make homemade cards and went to classes also till the creeping cancer prevented her continuing.homemade are so much better, especially when you know they were lovingly made for you.we had a lot left over when she died and any we use now have added significance.

Very proud of Ann, our youngest Granddaughter & a wonderful group of friends, all of whom participated in & completed the 5k 'Race for Life' for Cancer Research UK. Thousands of runners, joggers & walkers (Ann's group took the third option!) met on Epsom Downs (and many other places around the country) for this annual fundraiser. It was a fun day, but also very moving to be surrounded by so many people, directly or indirectly affected by cancer. The motto this year was: "Cancer, we're coming to get you'.

Good for all the walkers (and pushers). We lost my wife's sister to cancer a little over 10 years ago. A few years ago our niece, her daughter, did a cancer benefit triathalon in her memory. She put quite a bit into building up for that.

Pulling for your daughter to come through this without further suffering, Pete.

Pete, Ann & I send Love & Healing Thoughts for your daughter.
ChanteyLass, agree with you absolutely. A cure for all cancers in our lifetime would be a truly wonderful thing, but it's such an insidious, malicious malaise. Jane's ultimate demise was brought about by a mutation of the original rogue cells. Her Oncologist actually admitted that the team couldn't keep up with the speed of the mutation. When you're facing an adversary, capable of that type of behaviour, you really have your work cut out. Cancer Researchers around the World, we salute You!

Morning Crew, just catching up on all the news as we are back from our holiday.

Pete, sending good thoughts for your daughter, Nigel and Ann, well done to all those walkers, such an important cause, it touches us all as we know! And of course Up Spaw!!

Billy and I have returned home rested and stress free,Billy looks so much better, we had a wonderful break, late breakfasts, lots of sleep, great picnics
( Woolacombe Bay I love you) We caught up with old friends in Porlock where we stayed and went out with West Somerset Morris for a very entertaining evening in the depths of Exmoor.Had some great pub food in the evenings and a few glasses of wine. The scenery on that coast is spectacular and we had a hair raising drive from Lynmouth to Ilfracombe via Woody Bay, the track is "just" wide enough for one car, very interesting when you meet someone coming the other way!

More importantly my mother was fine, her live in carer was wonderful ,I don't think mum even noticed we were absent from home!! So now I know it works I can do it again!

Lovely to be back on board the Rainbow,

Much love
