Katsail is the real name for the new sail. It's a big sail to catch any winds winging their way from Colorado.

I haven't been around much lately- staying away from the computer more, with the summer weather keeping me outdoors and such. But yesterday's news about Kat was a big wakeup call for me, reminding to pull my own weight on the sloop of friendship, lest I miss the chance to say farewell. I'm grateful to return to find this thread alive and well, and so grateful to Catspaw and Micca who were there when I made phone calls yesterday to hear some friendly voices.
Sending love across the miles to all of you.

What an amazing thread! This is the shit that Mudcat has always been about. People coming together from across the globe and being a real if if virtual community. I am glad that this spirit still exists.

Kat has always been of the idea that positive thoughts/energy can lend to positive healing....sigh.

Spaw... that alone helps to heal.

I waited for updates on her thread without refreshing for (too) long periods of time simply because I didn't want to pry, to be pushy, to upset her in any way. I knew by her abscence that something wasn't quite right. Even tho I refreshed and ask "How ya doin?" or "It's been X days? Whhassup?" or "Update?" or whatever on several or more occasions, I wish I had more often just said "Hey darlin. Hope yer doin okay."

There. Said it out loud. It's been buggin me since I heard the news.

Bit worried. 3 to 4 hour long angina pain from 3 someting am to 7am this morning. Worst ever experienced. Swollen extremeties for more than a month. Sudden severe headache, jaw aches, neck aches (come and go), palpitations, feeling faint after even minimal exertion such as brushing teeth, getting up from chair, etc. This is very sudden in the last week. Mobility has been a problem with RA and PMR but this is different.

I think Kat's passing has knocked the wind out of my sails. She was only 5 years older than me.

Saw GP nurse two weeks ago. She couldn't get any of her BP monitors to work on me. Just scolded me about needing to get more exercise.

Saw GP this morning. No diabetes - YAY! Cholesterol only tiny bit high. He put me on Beta blocker and angina under the tongue spray. I ordered a BP monitor today. Will collect from Boots on Sunday.

I started near vegan diet beginning of the week, cut sugar, salt, dairy, and caffiene. Rediscovered Grape Nuts. YUM! Scheduled for ECG noon Tuesday day before we leave for Sidmouth folk week.

Cutting it fine, eh? Good will and energy please.

Hoping for the best results for your health, Tamara.

Up, Spaw and may you find comfort in music and with your family as you feel the loss of our friend Kat.

Nigel, thinking of you as you transition between medications. Take the time you need, but do remember you have many friends on The Rainbow and around Mudcat. Let some of us know how you are by PM if you don't feel able to post here. Did you see my little house chicken story? She laid her third egg right in my lap!

Max, thank you for taking action to take care of your health needs. We are so fortunate to have had Mudcat's circle of friends for all these years- it exists because of you. We will keep it oiled with compassion, music, and laughter as you regain your health and make choices for your future.

May we all find joy in the shining hearts of those we treasure and by whom we are in turn loved.

Maeve

4 hours in emergency medical assessment unit. Not a heart attack. BP was damn near perfect. Pulse great. ECG good, heart enzyme blood tests (x2) clear.

But I am being referred to cardiology to determine what is causing the angina, which definitely has gotten much worse. I think it is the perishing heat and the inability to shift excess water.

Anyway, thanks for thoughts. Hugs to you all.

this heat, mainly the humidity is really taking its toll, difficult to walk, I walked up the steps from the beach yesterday to the top of the cliff and had to sit on the bench to get my breath! Made me feel like an old woman! Whoops ...... I am Whoot!!

Much love and lots of healing thoughts coming from me to you Tam, Spaw, Nigel and all those in need, always have love to share here!

We sing for peace, join hands and raise your voice
In friendship stand with those who have no choice
Unite in song, wish for a safer world
A oes heddwch? Dymunwch am heddwch

This is a verse from the Peace Anthem sung by 700 strong voices at the 2013 Street Choir Festival held in Aberystwyth last weekend.

The Welsh translates - roughly - as;
Will there be peace? We all pray for peace

It applies equally to those with cares who need peace of mind. I hope it may help.

How much muck can a bucket chuck with only one truck? Not too effin much! I swear they only got one pipe length (22' long) of trench done on my street yesterday in 13 hours... only had one dump truck on the job! I am on a dead end street and my neighbours are getting ticked off with having to move their vehicles elsewhere from 7AM to 7PM+ Monday thru Friday.

The point is, I have nothing to complain about and I wish all of you could join me in the dory I shall row today. For those who can't, The Rainbow is a fine ship to sail in and I hope the seas are as calm as can be.

Up yers, Spaw.

Gee....LOTS of good news floating by right now! I have been checking in but just haven't posted much. I was pretty well gobsmacked over kat's death and my functioning level was below par.

I want to thank all of you and my many other friends on the 'Cat for the calls and PM's and notes of personal encouragement. Kat and I were very close.......I am happy to tell you also that kat will be going a few places now. Roger decided to send her ashes to friends in all those places she wanted to go but never got there. I have Bill and Rita taking some to the Getaway of course and more going to England and Micca. Some will go to the Maine bunch where she had many friends and some will go to Heather Fielding. Some are going to OZ with Sandra and Freda handling that. I imagine we might find a few more places but I think that's about right for doing what she wanted.

I'm doing the chemo recovery week and it is about right on schedule. Just about back to whatever normal is anymore. The port made a lot of difference and once again thanks for the UPS!!!!!

I love you all and I love this journey we are on together. So glad Freda has come aboard. Did anyone tell her about the first month of kitchen duty?

Spaw

Damn! Another flood of tears! What a great thing to do... send her ashes hither and yon. Brilliant idea as they say across the pond. What an idea! We have a law here that says ya gotta pay a load of money to a funeral home fer a coffin in which you have be creamated and then these ashes must be buried at a graveyard at expense. Arrogant and insulting $ grabbers.

My creamation will be paid for by Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS. I hope I get cut up and experimented upon by a, nay, a number of, female med students. After all, I will already be a stiff.

Yes, that is TERRibly crass and PI. What's yer point?

Glad to hear things are as normal as can be expected, Spaw.

Big smiles, Spawzer. I'll be at the Getaway and now know to get in touch with Rita and Bill. Don't know what they may have in mind, but could definitely get into going out into the bay in a kayak, if that is appropriate.

Keep us posted when the numbers come in from your latest bloodwork, Darlin' 'Spaw.

VT, may you have moments of joy and contentment, and days that you can hold onto to get you through days that don't seem worth holding onto.

Essentially the same thing, Pete, with somewhat less pressure, more service and significantly less management responsibilities, and able to work 40-50 hours instead of 50-65 hours per week - at a substantial cut in pay. But I only made the decent wage for a few years and had not got used to it, and in my field and at my age, I am very fortunate to have secured another job. I know a lot of folks in my sector who are out of work. Somehow, over the past several years I have managed to keep landing on my feet - this job does not necessarily qualify as "sticking the landing," but I definitely need to work for a pay check for at least another 4 years. After that, I can bring enough in from my private practice to adequately subsidize retirement income for as long as the brain cells function well enough.   I have much for which to be thankful. Lots of folks in my field are out of work and unable to find work.

All this is minor stuff compared the life-endangering issues folks deal with here.

Somebody lead us in a chanty now, to get these sails up to take advantage of a fair wind.

That is awesome, Pat. What an amazing way to deal with her ashes...that way she gets to go to where she could not in life, and be a big part of the earth. Thank you for letting us know.

In spite of the pain...the sorrow...the heart break of loss....this is still the best bloody thread I have seen here in a long time. This is what the cat has always been about.
