300 year old glass!

Each October I attend a small festival/gathering at Australia's oldest industrial complex taht is still in use, the Old Goulburn Brewery built 1832-36 & each year I check out the glass in the Mill windows. One pane has a pontil mark the size of my thumbprint, another one has a tiny pontil mark & I make sure they are still there as some panes are broken. Fortunately the owners love the history of the complex & would never replace the panes with modern glass.

But I still look!

Good morning all,

the sun is out in Frinton this morning, sparkling on the blue sea, in fact it is unseasonable warm for the end of October.

Sending love and healing to " auntie Chris" and Ann, Tommy, Maeve , Gnu and of course our captain Nigel.

Sammy had a difficult weekend, mainly in bed, she will see her GP on Thursday and insist (?) on a hospital emergency appointment but I am phoning the Private Consultant's secretary to day as a back up. We had the little girls over the weekend and took them to see their uncle Christopher and Reuben. We saw the concert with "Sid " from the BBC and they all really enjoyed themselves, although swatting a fly and breaking a three hundred year old window wasn't in the plan!! Good job Christopher is the theatre manager!!

sailing on

Here's hoping, mauve, that whatever the challenges are this week, it goes ok. Thoughts and prayers also to aunt chris, Nigel and Ann, Wendy, billy and sammy, as well as entering into the rejoicing.               We are at caravan at windchelsea with the boys. Tommy don't seem too bad , but his readings are too low sometimes, and we are always aware that at 15 now the danger increases with his condition.      At church in rye yesterday, becky had a strange experience. She 'heard' a voice telling her tommy was leaving, and had a vivid image of him radiant and restored. This was disturbing and comforting at the same time. I suggested it could be a spiritual experience, or maybe a chemical reaction in the brain.                Blessings.   Pete.

I'll keep Aunt Chris, Sammy, and Ann (as well as the rest of us!) in mind as I go about a very stressful and decision-filled week. We have sunshine today after days of rain and wind.

Nigel, I appreciate you remembering me. I don't post much, and cannot for privacy reasons, but your generosity in thinking of me is appreciated.

Thank you, Sandra. I am deeply indebted to my Aunt Chris. It's a long story which I will get around to telling...but not yet.

Gnu, I can't remember whether Pat PM'd me the following blessing, or if it was part of a regular post. I am not a 'Man of God', but the words are still redolent with meaning & fit perfectly with the Man I grew to know & love...I can almost hear his voice speaking this:

"May the good earth be soft under you
when you rest upon it,
and may it rest easy over you when,
at the last, you lay out under it,
And may it rest so lightly over you
that your soul may be out
from under it quickly,
and up, and off,
And be on its way to God."

                                          With Love,
                                                          Nigel.

Some good reading here. As gnu says: "Brightens my day (too)"

We were hoping Ann was going to get her discharge from Oncology at her last appointment. Her MRI was clear, but some enlarged lymph nodes showed up under ultrasound, so we're waiting to see her surgeon. All the health professionals kept saying: "Nothing to panic about" just a little too often for my liking.

Could we send some 'Mudcat Mojo' to my amazing Aunt Chris. At the age of 91, she's been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. She's booked for surgery next week. Yesterday, she drove to the shops & walked her dog...she's such a gutsy lady, but the cancer diagnosis has scared her.
                                                 Much Love to You All,

YO! SPAW! Listen up ya broke dick. Now that yer in heaven, slap some skin and send us yer clone. Like a profit with a hardon fer trolls and just regular folk talkin outta their ass. Send us a sign... like an ESPPM or, fer us/them still on the internUt, just an MP3 of your latest BRAAAMMP!

I miss Spaw. He was Mudcat to me for sooooo many reasons. He was my friend.

I have mentioned our daughter Sammy has Crohns disease before, it has come back over the past two months after being in remission for eight years. Sam has lost 2 stone in that time and the hospital has been diagnosing over the phone. Alas the steroid has not improved her condition at all, she is hardly able to leave the house yet the consultants appointment ( fast track ,they said) is December 12th !! I am going to phone his private secretary today and see if we can get a private appointment, she cannot go on like this till December. I will be in her bad books but " its only money" and her private insurance does not cover pre existing conditions. As you know our NHS has been brilliant looking after my husband Billy and I am sure that once she gets to see the consultant they will be equally as good, but I am so worried that they will only speed up when she becomes an emergency? So prayers and thoughts please crew?

Meanwhile BB and I are having the girls as often as possible, so tomorrow we are taking them to see "The nutcracker" ballet and on sunday we are going to our son's theatre to see a production with the BBC's children's entertainers.

Onward and upward,

( by the way mum has not noticed my brother is not visiting in the evenings and Billy's BP has gone down due to less stress!)

sailing on

much love

I've been checking in every day, reading, but not posting as regularly as I would've liked. I'm not very good when it comes to apportioning internet time, so the lion's share has gone to my website, which desperately needs updating, redesigning & kicking up it's cyber backside! It's still 'work in progress', so you won't see any changes yet...need some help & inspiration from those good folk at my local Apple Store.
I have made time, however, to re-read many PMs, both sent & received...words of love, compassion & wisdom from those still with us & from the Dear Departed...words like: ".....we have so many here who offer so much of themselves, it has buoyed my spirits & my sense of friendship in a way I would have never believed possible in the cyber world....."
Uppermost in my mind are Wendy & her Family; Pete & Tommy; Gnu; Joe & his Family; Maeve & my belovéd Ann.
Sending much love...hoping for calm seas & fair winds,
                                                                                           Nigel

It is a wonderful place, look it up on the internet. Colchester is Britains oldest town and the Roman remains are all over the town, including a stadium for chariot racing! We are only 20 minutes away by car but I had not been inside the castle since I was in my teens! This is the joy of being a grandmother, Billy and I have a brilliant excuse for having lovely days out. Sutton Hoo next, only forty minutes away.

Pete,
so glad he is home, and back at school even though they sent for you.I guess the school just takes extra caution?

I did walk down to the beach hut on sunday morning for a coffee, the sun was shining for a couple of hours. On Saturday we took the granddaughters to Colchester Castle, what a brilliant place, they gave the girls a tablet computer thingy? and it showed them what the castle looked like and what people were dressed in. How Colchester was first ruled by the Romans and how the castle was built on the site of the Roman temple. We even went into the dungeons complete with sound effects of the witch finder general's trials!! They had a lovely day out of the rain.

Sending love and best wishes to all

Maeve, Joe's back home. He posted that on Facebook's Mudcat Cafe page on October 9th that the had evacuated from 3-9 PM. I tried to copy Joe's post, but I guess Facebook doesn't let people do that. I think I've tried that and failed before. He also posted photos of the fire, smoke, and firefighting planes.

Pete, I'm glad Tommy was in out of the hospital after just one day. I hope he continues to improve at home.

Havent been on board for a while, so much going on, Billy has asked my brother not to come to the house in the evenings anymore, long story but over stepping the mark and straw and camel gives you a clue. He can still see mum but has to come during the day and take her out in the car.

My love to Nigel and Ann, hope the results are good, waiting is the worst time !

My thoughts are with Joe, hoping they are safe.

Good news for us, Billy saw his consultant yesterday and his blood results are good so doesn't need to see him a for three months.

Joe Offer posted the following on Facebook about an hour ago. For those of you who may not know, Joe and Christina live in northern California where wildfire is always a danger, but apparently even closer than what has occurred before for them.

There is a wild fire across the freeway from our home. We were evacuated about 3 p.m., and we are staying with friends in Auburn. We think our house will be ok, because the fire is moving away in the other direction. We don't know when we will be able to go home. Please send socks and underwear.

Hoping the fire not only keeps heading in another direction, but hoping no one in any direction are harmed or lose their homes. I know fire is a fact of life in the west and part of the natural process, but still hate for so many people and wildlife to be at risk or destroyed.
