Subject: Woody Guthrie Center to open-Tulsa From: Don Firth Date: 15 Jan 12 - 04:05 PM I wasn't sure whether to post this here on the music forum or the BS section down below, because it is heavily political. But it centers around Woody Guthrie, the fact that this year is the 100th anniversary of his birth, and that a Woody Guthrie center is being opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I receive "AlterNet Headlines" in my e-mail every morning, and this was one of the featured stories. It starts thus: January 15, 2012And the whole story can be found HERE. Scroll down and go to the second page. If you click on the photo of Guthrie, it will take you to a video of Bill Moyers talking about Guthrie and the opening of the Woody Guthrie Center in Oklahoma, along with film clips of Guthrie—and how, in the present political and economic climate, Guthrie and his songs are still very relevant.
