I wasn't sure whether to post this here on the music forum or the BS section down below, because it is heavily political. But it centers around Woody Guthrie, the fact that this year is the 100th anniversary of his birth, and that a Woody Guthrie center is being opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I receive "AlterNet Headlines" in my e-mail every morning, and this was one of the featured stories. It starts thus:
January 15, 2012

The traveling medicine show known as the race for the Republican presidential nomination has moved on from Iowa and New Hampshire, and all eyes are now on South Carolina. Well, not exactly all. At the moment, our eyes are fixed on some big news from the great state of Oklahoma, home of the legendary American folk singer Woody Guthrie, whose 100th birthday will be celebrated later this year.
And the whole story can be found

HERE.

Scroll down and go to the second page. If you click on the photo of Guthrie, it will take you to a video of Bill Moyers talking about Guthrie and the opening of the Woody Guthrie Center in Oklahoma, along with film clips of Guthrie—and how, in the present political and economic climate, Guthrie and his songs are still very relevant.
