Subject: Bellbottom Trousers From: Dinty Date: 07 Oct 99 - 08:05 AM My grandfather was a WWII generation marine and used to sing a Navy song to me that he called Bellbottom Trousers. I can only remember a small fragment of the song which went something like this: Singing bellbottom trousers, coats of Navy blue Swinging through the rigging like his daddy used to do If you have a daughter bounce on your knee If you have a son send the rascal off to sea I think this is the chorus of a much longer song. Any tips on where I might find the rest of it? Dinty |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bellbottom Trousers From: Dinty Date: 07 Oct 99 - 09:05 AM Thanks. I found it. It was interesting to see both the old and new versons. As you can imagine, my grandfather sang me a slightly cleaned up version of the old lyrics and somewhat modified to make it appropriate to the US Navy. Interesting to see that it crossed over from the RN. Of friend of mine has been dragging me to sings here in Kuwait and I've been looking for something to start with. Just like my grandfather, I might have to clean up the song a little bit. - Dinty
