One of the features of this great festival is the recording of unusual songs from participants, by the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA). The link below is to a set from 2009 now available on ITMA's website. I particularly recommend Gerry Cullen's The Factory Maid!

sorry to say we can't make it for the whole weekend this year Jim but will try and get a 'wee skoot' down on either Saturday or Sunday for a few songs and a pint. (Jackie and Donna)

I concur Martin. It was a mighty weekend in Inishowen.
Some of the highlight for me were;
Stuart Carolan, for a young fella he is coming on in leaps and bounds and turning into a superb singer.
Packie Manus Byrne, for a man well into his ninetys he was sharp with his ready wit and his sense of humour and fun. He is a joy and an inspiration.
Micil Ned Quinn was in mighty form with his songs and his side splitting stories stories and his boundless energy and enthusiasm.
It was summerlike weather and the peninsula and the scenery was beautiful.
Meeting up with all the regulars and meeting new visitors and making new friends.
Thanks to all who organised it, it is consistantly great and a credit to them all. Long may it continue to grow, progress and prosper.

Fergus

First trip to Inishowen weekend for me and Malc and I hope it wont be the last. It was an absolute joy to be there among so many great singers and watching the youngsters develop and take up the reigns for the future.
Thanks to everyone especially Donal Mcguire who persauded us finally to take the plunge and go.

To get an idea of the local tradition, check out some resources which are emerging from a project between the Inishowen Singers and the Irish Traditional Music Archive, just made available by ITMA:

Martin. Thanks for putting that up. There looks like a lot of really good stuff there. I was particularly taken by Corney's Bonny Labouring Boy, which he sings to the same tune which Harry Cox used for that song. (She Lived Beside The Anner.)
