Subject: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: GUEST,Wesley S Date: 22 Jan 12 - 01:48 PM About 1:30 into this song you'll see how Josh Williams reacts when a small bird lands on his guitar during a concert. Do you make it fly away or do you serenade it? What to do when a bird lands on your guitar during a performance. |

Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Rapparee Date: 22 Jan 12 - 05:49 PM Beautiful, and a real performer. He should be glad, however, that it wasn't a woodpecker. |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: frogprince Date: 22 Jan 12 - 07:15 PM I'm trying to believe that it just sat there like that while he stroked it. Magic. |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Joybell Date: 22 Jan 12 - 07:31 PM Thank you Wesley. It is amazing. Looks like a fledgling. Young birds are very trusting. Does anyone know what it is? What happened to it? Cheers, Joy |

Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Janie Date: 22 Jan 12 - 09:59 PM I am 99% sure it was a newly fledged Carolina Wren. They are nearly as "at home" around humans as are House Wrens. Josh Williams responded beautifully. |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Crowhugger Date: 22 Jan 12 - 10:20 PM What a lovely stretch of time watching that! If ever a video deserved to go viral... Janie that's a good eye you have. I could only tell it was newly fledged. The way it crash-landed I wouldn't be surprised if that was its first time out of the nest. Certainly its first day. I only hope I'm as lucky some day. |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Barbara Shaw Date: 22 Jan 12 - 11:33 PM Wow! I know the man (Ted Lehmann) who took this video and have seen Josh Williams perform before, but never like this! What an amazing moment. |

Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Rob Naylor Date: 23 Jan 12 - 06:45 AM That was great...what a performer to take that in his stride as he did. I've copied that link onto my Facebook status to spread it around a little. |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 23 Jan 12 - 11:23 AM I once called the wildlife rehab place near me when something similar happened. I was told that the fledgling's parents are nearby, watching it, and the thing to do is to put the little one IN THE SHADE in a place where the parents can find it. Shade is critical; hot sun will dehydrate a little bird rapidly. In the case of the bluegrass festival, I would try to get the fledgling far enough away from the stage so that music and people walking about don't confuse the parent birds. Even if the parent birds don't understand what has happened, they will find the fledgling by calling to it and listening for its cheeping replies. |

Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Joybell Date: 23 Jan 12 - 05:47 PM leeneia, Baby birds share our lives. I'm a wildlife carer in Aus and I always meet other naturalist types at festivals. I was hoping that someone had rescued that baby. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: GUEST,Fossil at work Date: 23 Jan 12 - 05:59 PM The first comment on the YouTube site was that he had handed the bird over to a young lady veterinarian in the crowd, who had taken it home and looked after it. She had later apparently emailed to say it was a Cardinal and it was doing fine. I have no idea of the native bird life in that region, so can't comment. But it's nice to know it ended well. And Rusty Dobro; LOL, best ad-lib I've seen all year! |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Jim Dixon Date: 23 Jan 12 - 06:34 PM Was the bird named Woodstock? |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Janie Date: 23 Jan 12 - 06:49 PM Oops. My face is red as a male cardinal! (note to self - put on glasses and enlarge video to full screen before showing off bird "knowledge." Good ones, Ron and Jim. |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Joybell Date: 23 Jan 12 - 07:30 PM Ah yes. I thought I noticed a crest. I was going to mention it. If you look closely you can see it. Janie, the coloring did look like wren though didn't it. Thank you Fossil. Now I can enjoy the scene happily. Cheers, Joy |

Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Leadfingers Date: 23 Jan 12 - 08:34 PM When I was but a lad my Bro and I found a fledged Crowlet that was being stalked by a cat , while Mom and Dad Divebombed the cat to keep the youngster safe ! Where the Crowlet was was NOT a good place to get away from - A Bomb Damamged open air swimmimg pool - so we took Crowlet home (NOT Too far from the park where Home Nest was) and deposited same in what HAD been a Rabbit Run , Fenced but open to the sky . It wasnt long til Mom and Dad Crow turned up , but it was three days before they could get Crowlet far enough up the trees at the end of our garden to make it back to the park , so I DO know how well Parent Birds can find stray offspring ! That is one LOVELY Vid , and its good to know it had a happy outcome ! |
Subject: RE: When a bird lands on your guitar...... From: Charley Noble Date: 24 Jan 12 - 07:58 AM Definitely a young fledgling on perhaps its first flight. It looked hungry at one point, pointing its oversized beak up to Josh for a treat. Good catch! Cheerily, Charley Noble |
