I think when Scaduto did that first Dylan - the inside track on him book, people loved it. I think they loved it because to our generation , it was great to read a book by someone who knew who Danny kalb and Spider John Koerner were.

It was so long since I'd heard anything of these people - I was starting to think I'd imagined them.

Since then - well so much has beeen written by and about Dylan - if he was a woman - I'd say hed lost his eternal mystery. Full frontal does that. Its fun, but Ive had a look now - I'll think I'll move onto Miss Next Month.

Bruce Murdoch......!

Why is this still in the BS section? It should be moved to the music section.

Just you wait til I write my epic bombshell:-

'Bob Dylan and Ewan MacColl - the love that dared not speak its name'

at last an answer to the meaning of all those cryptic folksongs!

Okay...anyway, it's the best book I've read yet on this particular subject. So I'm just mentioning it for anyone like that who has not read it yet.

Hardly new ~ the first of a three-vol series, first pub'd 1992, according to wiki entry of Paul Williams.

I don't know how new it is, cos I got it in paperback, but this is the best book I've ever read on Dylan's songs, his songwriting, and his motivations in writing the songs. I recommend it to those who are interested in this subject. Everything in it rings absolutely true to me.

It's by Paul Williams and it's called "Bob Dylan - Performing Artist", also subtitled "The Early Years". It covers Dylan's songs and performances during 1961-73.
