Subject: The Idlers From: GUEST,John Hertford Date: 25 Jan 12 - 03:20 PM During the early 80's there was a thriving pub music scene in Stoke Newington & Islington - and some great bands played at the Hare and Hounds in Upper Street (now sadly a winebar). High Speed Grass with Joe Locker and Robin McKidd were regulars. I'm interested in what became of The Idlers - guitar & mandolin duo, often a 5 piece with Piers Partridge playing Dobro, Adrian Legge guitars and a drummer and bass player. They wrote and played intelligent melodic country bluesy songs. I had a tape of their only recordings - stolen from my bag at work. If anyone has a copy ... |

Subject: RE: The Idlers From: GUEST,Nigel Jones Date: 27 Apr 13 - 03:09 AM Hi John, I was one of a group of friends who regularly enjoyed the Idlers gigs in the Hare and Hounds in the early eighties. Coincidentally, the other day I put 'Life before Breakfast' the title track of the ltd release @ 200 cassette onto youtube. The quality isn't as good as it might be. If you give me your details I may be able to do something like a tape to tape or tape, not sure how we stand on copyright there. The singer was Dave Lyon, can't find anything of him but I found Piers on google still writing great music in Bristol I think. Cheers Nigel Jones Biolasmic@gmail.com |
