Subject: RE: Youtube virus rumor? From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 26 Jan 12 - 10:06 AM It wouldn't be surprising if someone was trying to disrupt YouTube in this way. There have been changes recently to the look of Youtube channels. Personally I like the new look and adopted it quite quickly. It will become compulsory in March and people have been campaigning to stop that happening; not everyone likes it. Also, YouTube is now owned by Google and on March 1st there is a new Google privacy policy coming into place which is causing outrage. I never use the links in YouTube emails to get to YouTube or my inbox. I always go to YouTube via my browser. Also, I never click any links unless I am confident that they are safe. I get phishing emails from supposed banks and in Facebook I get requests via the games and apps that are clearly hackers. The app concerned is aware of this and trying to stop it but to be honest I am extremely vigilant with everything. |
Subject: RE: Youtube virus rumor? From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 26 Jan 12 - 09:28 AM It may be. I got an email a couple of days ago that looked exactly like the YouTube emails that come to let you know if someone has commented on your video etc. ~ the differences were so subtle. Luckily I never click the links in them because when I did go to my inbox in YouTube the message that was supposed to be there was not. When I looked the email address was very slightly different but looked just like a YouTube email. People who use YouTube regularly need to be on the alert I think. |
