Several times in singarounds at Holmfirth festivals I have joined in on the chorus of a mock shanty called, I think, Sailing in the King's Navy. I felt an urge to sing it a couple of nights ago before realising that, apart from the chorus, I didn't know it - a substantial drawback.

Nor could I find a trace of it via an internet search.

Hence this thread - can anyone help with the lyric or a source please?

Any more clues about the chorus? There are several candidates which mention "Sailing in the King's (Queen's) Navy."

The chorus is that line repeated twice. The verses are -as best I recall- of the double entendre/suggested rhyme type that never resolve into the expected vulgarity :-)

Not finding anything except references to the Gilbert & Sullivan "Ruler of the Queen's Navy" and a few children's songs.

Maybe someone else will have more luck.

Joe - happy to but I got them directly from the writer and I tend to the view that it is for him to do that, or at least to consent.
