Ive gotta ,as the original owner ,a 1998 Subaru -Forester , 98k on clock , never rallied or raced , & we are still in a passionate relationship & she frequently exudes loving speak & discussions about lubricants & carbureters & erotic cam shafts , & big end bearings & dip - sticks & stuff. .Told me she loves the differential on low box , at around 25 rpm , dont put the needle in the red zone she keeps saying ----just more throttle on the corners .Fair play to you Shane Mc Pogue

Gee, my kid wrote a song called Me and Giuliani Down by the School Yard (A True Story). Toyota wanted to use it in a commercial, and offered my son's band $100,000. The bidding went up to $250,000, and still the band refused, not wanting to be known as "the band in the Toyota commercial" and be forgotten in a year.
So, they gave up all that money, and are still performing almost a decade later. I hope the Pogues made the right decision....or at least, I hope Subaru paid them an obscene amount of money. I wonder if the ad is meant primarily for the Japanese market, where even unknown American and European bands can have huge advertising value. I still can't figure out how my kid's song would work in a commercial. It's nine minutes long - I guess they could get a lot of commercials out of it...

I dunno. I bought a 2012 Forester back in October, but I haven't seen the commercial. I like the vehicle.

So what's the deal with the new Subaru Forester commercial using "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" as a theme song? Do they totally not get it?
