Subject: Cheryl Wheeler - Potato song From: Bert Hansell Date: 01 May 97 - 10:00 AM Does anyone have a transcript of Cheryl Wheeler's "Potato Song" which she sings to the Mexican Hat Dance tune. I know there is only one word to it but how does she phrase it to fit the tune? And don't tell me it isn't a "folk" song. It gets my vote on two counts 1. The tune in folk 2. When you leave one of her concerts you find that everyone from the audience is trying to sing it on the way home. Once it leaves the concert hall and hits the streets -- it's ours --. Thanks, Bert. |

This recording contains spoken praise of Dr. McDougall, at some length. Also: They cheat on the chorus -- they don't do Cheryl Wheeler's version. Verse Three is entirely omitted. The recording does not credit Cheryl Wheeler, although the YouTube caption below the screen does credit the author. This is a family of five so they do cute stuff with the kids.
