Letter from Leonard Peltier himself, to mark the 36th 'Anniversary' of his Wrongful Imprisonment

And for those who can't open that link, due to it being via Facebook, here is Leonard's letter:

"thought for today ... you are FREE ... Len is in an IRON CAGE

FEBRUARY ANNIVERSARY MESSAGE FROM LEONARD PELTIER

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2012

Greetings to my relations, my friends, and to my many supporters the world over.It is that time again. Another year has passed, and on February 6th I will be marking 36 years since my arrest. During all this time, my family and allies have discovered just how far the government will go to wrongfully convict and imprison someone they know is innocent. They do this as a message—first to Indians, and further to anyone who might stand up to injustice—as if to say, "We will do as we please".

From the day of my arrest until now, through you my supporters, I have been honored with many activist and humanitarian awards. I thank you for keeping awareness of me and my case alive. Your commitment has really been a special experience for me.

In addition many celebrities, political figures, and organizations have called for my release, including 55 members of Congress. This last November, the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) passed a permanent resolution calling for my release. Well let's hope its not that permanent. The NCAI has committed to being directly involved with my case so that the message from Washington to Indian people does not remain, "We will do as we please".

Still, despite all this attention and with all the leaders and people of conscience calling for my release, I have been kept in this iron cage. They have even kept me longer than their own laws say they can. With evidence corroborating that I did not receive a fair trial, with proof of government misconduct, with admissions by government officials that they do not know who killed those two agents that day at the Jumping Bull property, here I sit. "We will do as we please."

Recently, as many of you know, an act was passed and signed into law that allows for indefinite detention of American citizens without charge or trial. This is perhaps the final straw, the final nail in the coffin of American freedom, the end of habeas corpus and due process. "We will do as we please."

We Indians said it for generations: If they can kill us indiscriminately, they will do it to anyone. If they can take our land, they will do it to anyone. If they can kidnap our children and take them to prison schools, they will do it to anyone. If they can starve us and lie to us, they will do it to anyone. If they can wrongfully imprison us, they will do it to anyone. Now, sadly, this is another Indian prophecy fulfilled. "We will do as we please."

Our ancestors and tribal people all over the world prophesied a time of upheaval and great change. I believe that time is fast approaching. I believe a part of this is the government's ongoing overreach of its authority—until the people rise up and tell Washington, "You will NOT do as you please! We are NOT your slaves! We will NOT be subjugated! We will NOT be ruled by an iron fist! We will NOT allow you to steal our liberty or our justice!"

My friends, my relatives, my supporters—Be a part of this latest, perhaps the last "Indian uprising". Make your voice heard! Be a part of the brave Movement to come, the Movement that will change the course of human history. Make change and hope and peace and justice a part of your personal legacy. Be the change that you envision and know in your heart must take place.

Do this, and on the day you take your last breath and prepare to meet Creator, you will know your life on this Earth was well spent. Close your eyes knowing you used your breath and energy to Creator's good purpose. Smile as you cross over knowing you changed the world so that the next seven generations can know a good life. Do these things and know that I am with you. I will embrace you as my relations—in this life or the next.

Mitakuye Oyasin.

In the Spirit of Crazy Horse,

Leonard Peltier"

Thanks, Jean..

Yes, that's Ed Woods, ex-FBI bastards, the posts where he's signed himself as that, and the other two posters too, I'm 99.9% sure. He does such terrible damage, twisting, spinning, lieing....Now though, I can use the messages on it to try to demonstrate to others exactly what the FBI have been doing all this time.

They call it 'neutralising', where they take over the media, everywhere they can..These days they even bring in bloggers to blog on their behalf, so 'Democracy Now' was saying...AND...they even have the ability to enter the blogging sites of those who support folks they don't like, to change words here and there, thus altering the meaning entirely and ensuring it causes the maximum amount of disruption and confusion..

Sadly for them many things are online now that they can't deny, such as transcripts of court appearances where witnesses admit to being paid tens of thousands of dollars by them..and memos from the FBI themselves, talking about 'neutralising' Jean Seberg..I'm sure there is much, much more out there too.

It is Beyond Evil to me that Leonard Peltier is still in prison, when keeping him there must be highly illegal by now, with everything that's happened around this case.

God, if I had the money, I'd sue the FBI to Kingdom Come and back again for what they've done to him.

It was interesting to see, how, on Youtube, he 'neutralised' me too, at least, he tried to. Dragged me through the dirt, tore apart my personality, inferred things I'd never said, had me liking Native American men, but apparently loathing ALL women..

Kinda reminded me of the English Folk World, so I was able to cope with it all. ;0) xx

I don't think Obama will touch the issue. It's too hot a political minefield.

Sadly, I think you are right. People have to keep fighting on his behalf though.

I believe he is innocent ~ but irrespective of innocence or guilt the time he has been in prison, the conditions he suffers and his poor health should be enough to free him.

Lizzie :), I have seen some of your posts on YouTube videos and if effort and commitment to the cause could free Leonard Peltier then he would be free just by your efforts alone. xx

Oh, by the way, do you know that those Good Christian folks who ran the Boarding Schools often made the children choose a punishment for each other...and if the punishment wasn't severe enough, the Christian Ones punished BOTH children, irrespective of what either had done, or not done, thus ensuring that one child would usually choose the worst punishment available to protect himself as well..

Bastards, huh? What fecking Bastards! Geez, I hope God was up there when they died and he showed 'em The Way To Hell. Not that I believe in Hell, but there are some folks who, if it DID exist, I'd be sure to send there!

Of course, that in turn led to highly disturbed young kids, who often grew up to know how to be cruel and bully, passing it on to their wives, their children, then drinking away the horrors in a haze of alcohol, whilst the world looked on calling them Drunken Indians, not knowing, or often not caring, what was behind it all......

Fecking, fecking bastards....

And the FBI is filled with 'em too..

Do you know, that when Leonard was due for his last Parole hearing, they took out full page adverts in national newspapers to lambast him, to decimate his character, yet again, to ENSURE they'd turn as many folks as possible against him??????

You'll hear Delaney talking about this, in that interview above..

And Ed Woods, who I spoke of above, was one of the feckers who wrote a testimony against Leonard. He is, in my opinion, for legal reasons, one of the nastiest folks on the internet, intent on causing damage and distress to cover up some very dodgy goings-on of his mates..

It is literally very, very shocking....

There is denial inasmuch as America hasn't apologised...and President Obama refers to their history as having had a 'few problems'...

More Indigenous People were killed in the Native American Holocaust than were killed in the Jewish one. Hundreds of millions of children know what happened to the Jews, but few know that Hitler based his concentration camps on the prisoner of war camps where they herded the Native Americans into. Few know of the Boarding Schools, the horrors there..the torture that went on. I was listening to Floyd Red Crow Westerman (now sadly no longer here, save for his words) telling how he, as a child, was forced to kneel on marbles or broom handles for daring to speak his own language..Few know of the relocation, the stealing of their land...

I've got to the stage now, where I feel it's my DUTY to spread the word as much as I can. Hell, I can't change history, none of us can, but there should damn well be a Museum to the Native American Holocaust too, for they have suffered in silence for WAY too long! It's preposterous that this continues to this day, and the genocide does too, just in a more covert way...

On Pine Ridge, the average age is 49 years old. If it were a country it would be the second poorest in the world, after Haiti...

As so many Native Americans say, carry placards stating, freeing Leonard Peltier is the first step in freeing ALL Native Americans..

That's part of why they keep him locked up of course...

And just recently, in the past few days, I've come into contact with Ed Woods, who runs the NoParolePeltier site. He's, allegedly, an ex-FBI agent, and he's dedicated his life it would seem to ensuring Leonard stays in prison forever.

I'd say he runs MANY sites on the internet, all twisting, spinning, lying etc..He's in Facebook too, and it's his pages that the resident anti-Leonard, anti-anyone not of white skin bloke gets his quotes from.

This man is NOT pleasant..Ed, that is.

I've got M Wesley Swearingen's book on order..he being an ex-FBI (legit) agent who wrote a book blowing open the FBI. He says that at least the Gestapo pretended to be nothing other than they were, whereas the FBI pretend to be America's Protectors...(you can read some of his book online at Amazon)

I've recently also found a letter from the FBI, a memo, sent out about Jean Seberg, who they decided to 'neutralize' after she dared to fall for one of the Black Panthers. They made her life hell, and the letter states how they should contact all forms of media to bring her into disrepute etc..Of course, the poor woman ended up committing suicide..

And then, there's COINTELPRO, of course, which Obama has, more or less, signed America up to, all over again..So many of the people those FBI *******'s locked away are STILL in prison to this day, as well as Leonard Peltier..

Found a great interview tonight, with Delaney Bruce, who helps to run the official 'Who is Leonard Peltier' site (google that and you'll find it)..these are the guys from the Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee, who do a wonderful job, working with Leonard himself, supporting him, keeping his Spirit up, focussed etc...

Delaney Bruce Interview - Starts just after 8 minutes in....

And this is just in, from a few hours ago, the Irish protesting outside the U.S. Embassy in Dublin today, on the International Day of Solidarity with Leonard Peltier, which also marks the 36th YEAR of his imprisonment...tough day for him, which is why everyone is wrapping him up with Love and Hope.........

I hope the musical afternoon went well in Lincoln..and if anyone's out there who has some photos, I'll put them in here later.

Right, I'm away back to the Wall of the White House to kick their arses! :0) xx
IRELAND for LEONARD! :0)

Is there really that much "denial" concerning the earlier (i.e. pre-20C) history?

whats happened to leonard to a crime against humanity. the fbi, and their death squads (who actually called themselves the GOONS), continued the genocide against american indians and a few og them got killed so peltier was blamed.

the fbi agents and informants who swore affidavits to get his extradition from canada have been proved to have perjured themselves in those affidavits. in the usa they charge martha stewart for perjury but never the political perjurers who are working for the military capitalist

thanks for the links

i'm gettin upset. i've been reading ward churchills book:"alittle matter of genocide". it thoroughly documents the american genocide and exposes the lie that natives died from the foirces of nature. in their own words written at the time, again and again the english and americans record their repeated slaughtewr of non combatants and the destruction of their food sources. its a hard read, and i do not understand the denial underlying all of north american culture. big sigh

I have shared this link International Day of Solidarity with Leonard Peltier with you and the "Support Chief Raoni" page on Facebook.

Let's hope that Barack Obama, as President of the USA, takes notice of all of these voices of support for Leonard Peltier.
