Subject: RE: Portuguese guitar From: GUEST,Johnmc Date: 06 Feb 12 - 02:12 PM Hardly noticed her, what with trying to figure out the tuning mechanism. Clearer now, thanks; thought they might be related to fine tuners. |

Subject: RE: Portuguese guitar From: GUEST,Redman Date: 06 Feb 12 - 11:40 AM The girl singer, with that band, was a cracker and she could sing as good as she looked. I was well impressed. |

Subject: RE: Portuguese guitar From: John MacKenzie Date: 06 Feb 12 - 10:53 AM It's a double loop string, and you screw the tuner all the way down, put the new string on, and then screw it up again to tighten, and tune. At the top there is a row of knurled nuts on the end of a threaded shaft. On this shaft there is a collar with the hook for the string attached to it. The hook goes through a slot in the front, and this keeps the hook from rotating when the nut is turned, and guides it up or down the threaded shaft as required. It's a fairly primitive, but effective system |
Subject: Portuguese guitar From: GUEST,Johnmc Date: 06 Feb 12 - 10:47 AM Saw this on Celtic Connections in a Fado group; does anyone know how the tuning mechanism works ? |
