In 1997, I was a guest on Rick Fielding's radio show, Acoustic Workshop, on CIUT in Toronto. This week, Rick is my guest on Folk Roots/Folk Branches on CKUT in Montreal (and around the world in RealAudio).

Actually, the conversation with Rick was recorded on August 28th when we were both at the Ottawa Folk Festival. During the conversation, we'll hear five songs from Rick's new album.

You can hear the show on Thursday morning (October 14) from 9-11:30 (edt) at 90.3 FM in the Montreal area. CKUT's RealAudio feed is available from the Folk Roots/Folk Branches website.

I am trying to listen to it; like last night's Mudcat Radio, net congestion is terrible. Mike, I cannot hook up my vcr to record, any other way to listen to an archived version? Anyway of recording it through my computer?

What I do hear, little 10 second snippets, sounds great!

I found my headset ... so the folks nearby my desk don't get to hear Karla Bonoff singing the Water is Wide .... but they must be wondering about the smile on my face!

kat - I didn't hear the song before that ... sorry. But heard the Rick Fielding interview, and several cuts from Rick's new album. Great Stuff!

Tony - that is the addr I used. It got bumped back! I'll try again - being ttypographically challened I may have spelled Montreal - Toronto or something!

hmmm - Tony, it seems my error was indeed typographical in nature, though I didn't try to send it Toronto or Boston, I did leave out the folk! Thanks for the help.

Well, the net congestion finally gave up, so I did get to hear all of Rick's interview and songs. Really great show, Mike! Love your voice! Rick, I loved you autobiographical song, missed the name of it. Just sounded great, all of it; can this heathen go Sing With The Angels, too?

liam, I think that addy is right. I click on Mike's name at the CKUT site and sent him email. So far it hasn't come back to me.

Thanks to all who tuned in. Got a lot of great feedback on the segment with Rick Fielding.

The song that Katlaughing is asking about was Pete Seeger's version of "Pretty Saro" from "God Bless the Grass."
