Subject: RE: Amberley (Sussex) club moves From: Vic Smith Date: 17 Jun 12 - 06:20 AM This from club organiser John De Little. The club was forced to leave its long-term at the Black Horse to seek an alternative venue at The George and Dragon in Houghton a couple of months ago. After much discussion Andy and I have agreed that running the club every Tuesday is unsustainable. AAMC is not alone and I am hearing other clubs run on similar lines have had to revise their arrangements. There has been some very useful feedback on reasons why but whatever the explanation, when costs are higher than audience income something has to change! We are planning to close over the summer holiday period after a stellar line up and we intend to start again in September. We will host a singers' night on the first (and maybe third) Tuesday of each month and invite local singers and musicians to play for a "pass the pot" contribution from the audience on the night. In addition there wil be some one off guest nights but we'll let you know in plenty ot time about these. The future of AAMC then depends on singers and players as much as the audience and we'll see what happens!! All and any feedback on this suggestion will be welcomed of course http://www.amberleyacousticmusicclub.com/home.cfm |

Subject: Amberley (Sussex) club moves From: Vic Smith Date: 14 Feb 12 - 04:44 PM The new regime at the Black Horse plan big changes for the pub so from Tuesday March 13th, Amberley Acoustic Music Club will move to at The George and Dragon at Houghton. An email from John De Little includes:- Through a chance chat last Sunday evening with some other folkies, Andy discovered a function room, with tons of character, very near to Amberley, in a gorgeous old pub, with its own bar and a door (rather than a curtain) which can be closed to keep our sound in, and other sounds out.... the beer is good, the food excellent and the landlord and landlady, Gavin and Carole, are very friendly and supportive.... |
