I am heading to the UK, mainly to visit my son and his lady in Bristol, but we will be traveling around a bit, in the south. The trip is Feb 9-Mar 8 and daily itinerary is being made up as we go along. We will be in Cornwall, Bridport, Kent, London, possibly Wales. I know about Bodmin Folk Club on Saturday. I have spoken with Misha about possibly going to C# house and a club in London that night if we can work out a Tuesday. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Herga Folk Club is not too far from London & is really good. If they don't post to this thread, I suggest PM'ing George Papavgeris or Herga Kitty; both are regulars there (last I knew, anyway).

Herga folk club will be meeting on 20 and 27 Feb and 5 March - website info, including the link to the current programme, here . Next Monday's singing will be preceded by our Annual General Meeting, though, and on 27 February club member Dave Auld will be launching his CD, so there will be more opportunities for visitors to perform on 5 March!

Hi Celtaddict,

Bodmin Folk Club is actually on Fridays, and the the guest there tomorrow (17th) is none other than Jeff Davis. He is also playing London dates on February 24th (Musical Traditions, central-ish) and the 26th (Walthamstow). I am playing at Tudor Folk, Chesham (about 5 miles outisde the M25) - possibly with Jeff in attendance - on Monday 27th, and Islington (N. London)on March 1st.

If you do manage to get into Wales there is
Newport Folk Club every Thursday
Llantrisant Folk Club every Wednesday
Halfpenny Folk Club Swansea every Sunday
Chepstow Acoustic Music Club every other Friday
That should keep you busy

Brian: Thanks! Two typos in my note: I know Bodmin is Friday, and I talked with Micca, of course. It would have been a hoot to take my kids to Bodmin and see Jeff, of course! But it would really be nice to get together if we can make it work! We are gathering information and will sit down and figure where to go when after I arrive.
Thank you to all! I am really looking forward to this trip and upcoming ones as well! (They have emigrated, so I will be visiting more than once.)

If you like a bit of bluegrass as well, then Bristol Bluegrass Day is taking place at the Folk House there on Sat 3rd March and should be pretty lively, with workshops, jamming and concerts including the wonderful young band Jaywalkers, who fuse many aspects of bluegrass and folk.
