Subject: RE: Obit: Margo Tepper Schotz 27 Feb 2012 From: Big Mick Date: 01 Mar 12 - 12:00 PM I am sorry to be late to this thread. Amiel and Margo have always been one of the great parts of Getaway. To imagine one without the other is very difficult, as they always exhibited the wonderfulness of how two people, and their love for each other, grows and matures in a beautiful way. But I sense that Amiel is strong in his faith, and I know that whatever waits for us on the other side, Margo is certainly seated front row center. God be good to her. Amiel, I wish you peace and understanding. You already have the friendship of so many of us who stand at your side in this difficult time. Mick Lane |
Subject: RE: Obit: Margo Tepper Schotz 27 Feb 2012 From: Genie Date: 01 Mar 12 - 12:01 AM I was greatly saddened to hear this news this morning, in an email from Amiel, via Sandrolin. The Schotzes have been wonderful assets to the Getaway the 3 times that I've been able to attend. I did not know them well but it was impossible not to feel their warmth, joy, and love of music and story. Robert Rodriquez, of New York, called me (about the upcoming Singtime Frolics) shortly after I got the news about Margo, and he too was shocked and saddened. He told me he had visited Margo and Amiel in Israel a while back, after he had attended Getaway, and he really enjoyed their company and asked me to convey his love and condolences to Amiel. Rest in peace, Margo. It was good to have known you, all too briefly. Holding you and your family in my heart, Amiel. |

Subject: Obit: Margo Tepper Schotz From: Charlie Baum Date: 28 Feb 12 - 11:16 AM Some Mudcatters will remember Margo Schotz, who came to the Getaway each year from near Beersheva, Israel, with her husband Amiel Schotz. Margo has been battling a very aggressive cancer for the past few months. Sad news has arrived from Amiel: It is in tears that I tell you that our beloved Margo passed away suddenly yesterday evening [Monday night, Israel time (?)] at about 6.00pm. Her heart suddenly stopped beating and the end came peacefully a few moments later, despite our efforts at revival. The funeral date has not yet been set but is likely to be on Thursday morning, since some close family members cannot arrive from abroad till Wednesday evening. The place will be the "Menuchah Nechonah" cemetery just past the main Beer-Sheva "New Cemetery" on the road to Kibbutz Hatzerim. I'll send an update as soon as the time is finally set. Shive will be at our house: Metar, Derekh Yatir 102, Thursday evening till Shabbat comes in, then from Sunday. Love from her and us to all her dear friends, Amiel |
