Subject: RE: Obit: Helmut Ruebsaat (1920-2011) From: katlaughing Date: 28 Feb 12 - 05:59 PM I don't agree with you, Joe, about reposting from the other thread. He's had his say AND, as you noted, using a different identity. That's bending over backwards to accommodate hate speech, imo. It disgusts me when people muck up obit threads with such claptrap. I will trust what my friends, here at Mudcat have to say about Helmut, and respect the sorrow his family and friends must be feeling. kat

Subject: Obit: Helmut Ruebesaat (1920-2011) From: Joe Offer Date: 28 Feb 12 - 03:06 PM Helmut Ruebsaat was born April 14, 1920 in Straelen in the Lower Rhineland region of Germany. He died in Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 29, 2011, 91 years old. He was active in folk music activities in the Vancouver area. Mudcatter ollaimh contacted me and wanted to post information on his contention that Ruebesaat was a Nazi. I suppose that's his right - he can post to this thread, even though he has already posted the same allegations under another name in this thread. This is an obituary thread. If comments from ollaimh or others get out of hand, I'll move them to the previous thread, which is closed. I'd like to know more about Helmut Ruebesaat from the people who knew him. From what I've heard, it seems that he must have been quite a remarkable person and a good singer, despite the fact that he lived in Germany as a young man during World War II, I acknowledge that every German man of that age, including the Pope, is suspect - and rightfully so. I gather he's somehow related to Rika Ruebsaat, who attended the FSGW Getaway in Maryland a few years ago. I imagine Rika is his daughter Ulrike. I wasn't able to find an online obituary for Helmut Ruebesaat. If somebody comes across one, please post the text in this thread. |
